The way modules are looked up - localized to the piece of code that needs it, inside the /node_modules directory - is one of the greatest strengths of the node ecosystem. It's just dead simple and solves dependency conflicts like nothing I'

Right, and it's going to be much better than solar panels given that they'll be able to do science before landing and also at night! Here's why it's totally secure: http://www.floridatoday.com/article/20111121/NEWS02/31121001...

The documentation page actually helps, thanks. Interesting that the entire DB serving this site is made out of flat files. Arc looks interesting, I'll give it a try if it's not too painful installing it. Would you know of a another less pai

Right, but what if you want to make changes? There's like barely any documentation and I have no clue how the requests are handled nor where the data is stored.

Are you using the news.arc script that HN itself is using? I wonder, how easy was it to install? I can't find much info online about it... what database does it use?

Very cool. Unfortunately not every company can afford working this way. But people working there have definitely found the sweet-spot of software development.

1) Apache Software Foundation and GitHub are two totally different things. Who cares about their internal preferences and bureaucracies. They're both producing outstanding open-source projects which are used by hundreds of thousands of comp

This is sort of useless. Giving visual meaning to a bunch of numbers means nothing. It's just a bunch of numbers.

I always thought that choosing a language shouldn't get in your way and impact performance in the long run. I thought languages could be abstracted enough from implementation so that services like App Engine would let them be performant no

I don't get it. What's the runtime for this? The interpreter seems to be running on App Engine, so it's probably JVM based, right?

ApeJS will probably only concentrate on App Engine since there are other frameworks that already achieve the CommonJS compliance that you're talking about, like RingoJS. ApeJS is actually more about trying to create a JavaScript layer aroun
