As I started learning how to spin up and manage Linux servers and then deploy my own (unmanaged) k8s on them, half of my bookmarks are DO documentation.

It was absolutely detrimental to learning and retention. We were on a quarter system (really trimesters, since one quarter is the summer quarter), with 48 classes required to graduate from engineering, which is 4 classes per quarter for 4 y

In college, cheating on the homeworks was quite literally the only way to get all the work for 4 engineering classes done on time. We still learned it all for exams, and received our exam grades accordingly, which are generally >60% of t

I really left IntelliJ (Python and Go) for Vim. I wanted to give Vim a good try anyway. My motivation was how ridiculously heavy IntelliJ is on resources I was doing Rust in VSCode and liked it but the Python support in VSCode was pretty te

Is it possible to get the inline inferred type annotations to show up in Vim the way they do in VSCode? I have been making a strong push to move to 100% Vim for development, but those inline annotations in VSCode with rust analyzer are amaz

I feel there can be a fair reason behind this, which is basically that using a tool no one else uses, even if it’s great for the use case, is likely to be a losing battle. Hard to get using it approved at work, less usage means fewer bugs a

I have done some learning about more generalized network concepts (ip addresses, protocols, routing) but I want to make the jump to actually apply it in some VMs now I think my next stop is the network section of Unix and Linux System Admin

Any good books on Linux networking? I have started spinning up “bare metal” k8s on a cloud VM and it’s not that hard to get going until you get to anything networking related then I feel like I’ve just jumped off a cliff. I have no knowledg

Thanks for your response! I am tempted to go try it on AWS, but I am sticking to DigitalOcean for personal projects for reasons. I will be very happy when it shows up on DO.

I am thinking more about adoption - and things that come with adoption - than functionality. It's not an option for which OS to flash onto my DigitalOcean VM. Getting it going on Raspberry Pi is largely undocumented. For desktop, it d

I would love for Alpine to progress to the point where it's a realistic desktop or server OS, rather than the OS for the containers that run on an Ubuntu or Debian server. Edit: Just got inspired and went to the contributing page. Thin

Yeah I use pyenv + virtualenvwrapper and there are a few packages I am fine with having in the top-level pyenv version, rather than in any particular virtual environment: black, requests, click, etc.

What was your mentality around choosing the license (Apache) in regards to the business you hope(d) to build around the Ory offerings? Also I have to say that about a year ago I wanted to teach myself about OAuth and I find almost every onl

My understanding from reading up on the 11th gen Intel CPUs is that the integrated graphics is supposed to be improved for first time in several generations. I have the same problem as you running a 4k screen from a Macbook with a 10th gen

Indeed I am coming from Python (and some Go), and I'm coming to Rust because I want a language that makes me think about these things. But those who do not want to be bothered are likely to be turned off.

I like Go, but I too in the meantime have dipped my toes into Rust and it's just so much better without being that much more complex. The learning curve is real but quite a bit overstated I think.
