This is like a vegan refusing to be around, let alone eat with, meateaters. As vegans and vegetarians (and decades earlier, non-smokers) have shown, you can have a principled stance on something without forcing that stance on others. Yes, i

My entire argument is that techno-libertarians can enthusiastically say that all great innovations were done inside companies, and progressives/marxists/etc can enthusiastically say that well actually, many of those developments s

This article's premise is entirely built on the idea that CEOs who layoff people citing AI aren't just lying. And, well, of course they are. If AI was really making these companies meaningfully more productive, they could use that

This is genius. Whenever a company does some fundamental discovery, you can point at some grant they once got for something vaguely adjacent and say "see! quasi-publicly funded!" and your worldview is saved.

Okok what I meant was, too many companies would've hid this in a ToS update, and these guys actively market the change, and the worst crime we can accuse them of is using the wrong word for "enable". I agree that's not

I really struggle to believe that this was just a little oopsie. I flagged the article, it seems more misleading than the average Claude hallucination.

I don’t understand your point at all, C++ objectively has a much stronger type system. It’s turing complete! I’m not arguing that that’s better, or worse, but it’s definitely true and by no means a myth.

C’mon folks, I can’t really be the only one on HN who’s never heard of this Paxton chap. If you’re going to namedrop someone at least add some context.

Everytime something gets posted on HN about a bad or unfair state of affairs, some cynical nihilist posts “doh why r u surprised” and I’m sick and tired of it. These comments aren’t insightful, helpful or thought-provoking. You’re just help

I'd like to take this opportunity to share with you all that Wero is called Wero because Euro is pronounced "you-ro" and when you share your you-ro it becomes a we-ro.

I think this is the key point. HN commenters on this thread and related ones like to assume everybody’s an activist luddite but actually I bet the majority of the audience is just rolling their eyes at the amount of open doors being kicked

This is never going to work. Sufficiently many of these people are going to find maintainers' home addresses and send them death threats and the likes. If you see how badly some people flip out just because their PR is rejected, it

This is not just any large organization, it's Anthropic. Their entire shtick is that AIs can do Real Work now and it'd be weird if they didn't behave accordingly themselves. This is also why Claude Code is full of weird bugs

Easily? You think the kind of people who think it makes sense to make bogus slop PRs are going to react reasonably to overburdened volunteer maintainers refusing to give them their US$10 back?
