I already have an overly healthy dose of self-loathing since I'm mainly programming in PHP. I guess that's why I'm mostly staying away from Java ;-) And thanks for the further insight on Clozure!

Now that's just silly. I totally understand their reasoning behind this, but it just doesn't make for an enjoyable game. I suppose you could call it compartmentalization[0]. [0] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compartmentalization_(psycholog.

I was actually checking out Clozure. Not a big fan of anything Java or Java adjacent.

Well, gee, thanks for reminding me AGAIN that I have this itch for diving into LISP that never subsides, no matter how strongly I put it off as overly academic or otherwise removed from reality. Upvoted.

> The new problem is: I'm bored already. The game isn't as deep as I first thought it was. Interesting! So you're saying the lack of fixing problems appears to be a nice cover for a the lack of an interesting game?

Well, mine didn't contribute much either - and I didn't want to pass up a chance to make light of that.

Just to make a very clear statement: This does nothing to my resolve to stick with GitHub. I'll just push a little later, whenever the next DDoS comes around.

And, according to some research[0], no matter which way you pour it, milk will make the tea worse. (And as a personal note - if you need milk to make your tea taste good, maybe you just don't have good tea?) [0] http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/

I'm not a 100% sure, but it probably involves convolution processing, as is used in some professional speakers - particularly for room optimization[0][1]. [0] http://www.genelec.com/products/dsp-products/glm-software/ [1] http://www.yout

Major code smell for me as well, but I've seen some rather big projects do them, so I always file it under "tabs vs. spaces".

I agree. In the past few weeks, Bitcoin has really picked up lots of speed. So much in fact, that I'm wondering whether we're witnessing an exponential adoption where years of people doubting Bitcoin were simply the beginning of the curve.

There was an interesting discussion on "pickup artist" books quite a while ago that I found insightful[0] and was reminded of here. To reiterate the point: Success Books are part of a cargo cult , making the cargo (success) the priority, w

Your recurring "rebuttal" to somebody posting a reply to your argument is to say that your point is right, that he is 'deeply confused', that he is arguing from authority, ignoring mathematical principles, that he is hysterical, that he doe

I was astonished by the loading times. Click an article in the "News" section and it takes about 5-10 seconds (while looking at the huge spinner) to load. That's ages for one paragraph of text and a 900x600 .jpg. For a quick reader, the pag
