Both were not that big - at least not for the C API and text IR users. Worse for the C++ users, obviously, but that was never promised to stay stable and not covered by such a huge number of tests to deter any breaking changes.

Some (most notably, gcc ) are deliberately not providing any external access to the compiler entrails, out of some deranged ideological motives.

It is far, far easier to design a good DSL than to design a usable API.

IR changes are not that significant. I followed LLVM from nearly the very beginning, and very rarely I was forced to amend something to keep up with the change. The biggest thing in the few past releases was the change in metadata (which go

Yes. But both failed to deliver the autocompletion the spoiled kids expect these days. And Lisp is far less dynamic than Smalltalk and the modern lesser toys like Python. See in ACL2 how a fully static typing can be added on top without a s

> the design of my ultra-dynamic language would make it near-impossible to have much tool support Dynamic, run-time reflection - yes, it is very harmful indeed. But dynamically extensible parser per se is not an obstacle for tooling. &

IBM SystemZ are not real computers too in your definition, they also won't run your x86 windows binaries.

Even GC cannot be a common ground for everything. Take a look at Harlan, a Lisp-like language with a region-based memory management. Unification harms diversity and flexibility.

Lisp thrives in Babel, while the other kinds of languages may be harmed by it. Lisp is a meta-language and it facilitates building a Babel tower of eDSLs for each and every little project. It is the main source of its unmatched power.

Great team with mediocre tools would work many times slower (and will be more likely to quit due to boredom). You have to compare equivalent teams instead.

All the modern lisps are installed just like anything else, whith apt-get install. I've no idea what are you talking about.

Swap the meaningless "real programmer" to a much better defined "efficient programmer", and all the seemingly "elitist" comments will start to make a lot of sense.

It is not silly. There is no such a profession as "programmer" (and I believe that this "profession" should have never existed in the first place). There are many very different professions. It is not silly to say that &

Big iron is very much alive and kicking. And we're likely to see a raise of RISC-V soon.

I wonder if these results are somehow related to a weird fact that dyslexics have far less troubles understanding the coloured text (even a transparent coloured overlay can be sufficient).

The cheapest I could find was around £2.50. I could never run one with RPi without a powered USB hub, so add at least £5 more.

I guess it would be harder to power an USB WiFi adapter. And it's not going to be cheaper than ESP2866.

It's easy to imagine multiple simple designs. You can couple it with an ESP2866, for example, using a number of attinys to access their analog inputs, or with a CAN-SPI head collecting data from multiple sensors, processing and then re

RPC has won indeed, in many different ways. Classic RISC made its way into the embedded, low power devices and clearly won, at least by the sheer numbers of chips produced. Formal methods settled strongly in the hardware design [1]. Distrib

Administrative measures against SQL injection. Totally makes sense. Very much in line with the very logic of this kind of people. The sad part is that this is exactly the psychotype that rules this world.
