Parsing is a solved problem. Any other research in this area is done out of curiosity, not necessity.

A huge number of London commuters could not vote, being stuck in the trains thanks to Govia scumbags.

Class divide existed pretty much forever. Now it is just more obvious than ever.

> it tends to be much easier to provide good error messages with a recursive-descent parser It is not any more complicated with a parser generator (if it's a PEG-based one). In fact, it's much easier, you're avoiding a lot

LL(n) can be limiting indeed. But you can easily mix, say, PEG and Pratt. Because where else do you need LR-like parsing but in the binary expressions, the C-style dot syntax and so on.

Linear scan register allocation is "good enough" in most cases and it is trivial if you're doing it on top of an SSA.

Compilers are in general far simpler than interpreters, especially if you're trying to build an interpreter with a reasonable performance. For a simple language compiler is nothing more than a chain "parse -> strip off syntax s

There is nothing wrong with the idea per se. It's just implemented badly in Python. Instead of allowing unlimited abstraction, which is the only way to unlock this desired simplicity on all possible levels, they're limiting the ab

I'm talking about the people with high IQ. Most of them are guilty of the same "from A straight to Z" mistake, unfortunately.

Actually, no. I believe Python is exactly the opposite thing, despite preaching some of the right ideas. Python is too low level, and therefore it invites obscure solutions that hides the real meaning behind layers upon layers of low level,

> Their solutions may take a bit of learning but it pays off. Solution that takes a bit of learning is always worse than a solution that does not need any learning and is obvious to anyone, even to someone in my IQ range.

Try to look at a smart-ass solution and compare it to a good, solid, dumb solution. The former is A->"some-obscure-magic"->D, while the latter would be like "A->B->C->D" with each step explained in an ELI5

And this is exactly why "smart" people are counterproductive. Their "smart" solutions are not reproducible.

I mean, write a compiler for a reasonable subset of a language you're learning. You can use the language itself to do so, yet most languages are not necessarily designed for writing compilers, so it's ok to use something else inst

IMHO the best way to learn any language is to build its compiler.

Does it matter at all if she's a female? She is just a minority in terms of preferences. If a male wanted to watch, say, football while the rest of the crowd settled on a baseball, things would not have been any different. In the airco
