Regarding sup-optimality... Currently our programming is optimized for keyboard input. If sub-vocal instruction becomes "a thing", I suspect we would spend some collective effort to create a programming language optimized for that

The "a total mystery that we will never understand" was intended to be fairly obvious sarcasm. My mistake.

I think that oral control will only really take off once we can record it sub vocally, in the style of "speaker for the dead" ("ender's game" sequel). I like the flexibility, but I really really don't like peop

One of my managers gave me some guidelines here. If it's more than 100 words, cap it at 100 and schedule a meeting. It clearly is information-dense to the degree where a quick question/answer session will be helpful. From my own e

When I saw the title I read it as BC aka BCE aka some really ancient mining artifacts. Still cool, but let down.

Really it's just "inspired" by borg. Using both, they're really not very similar.

Autopilot is the name of the vertical scaling system inside Google used for borg. It's been there as long as I have, which is 2012. I imagine the team that named it didn't need to read a research paper from MSFT to understand the

No one got laid off. Mobility within the company is very good, they just need to find a new role. That's not always trivial, and I'm sure some will leave the company, but none have to if they don't want to.

The data flow is quite well-contained. I obviously can't offer you proof that you'd be likely to accept, but I do work on GCP and have experience with how data is partitioned.

Bias and inaccuracy are two different ways to get things wrong. Briefly, bias is the wrong mean, and inaccuracy is high variance.

A bit off-topic, but you citing 17k as the population of Princeton "proper" is quite wrong. While it is true that Princeton Township and Princeton Borough were once different municipalities, they shared most resources and, importa

It's not a mirror, it's just another place to put your images. If you're eu based then it's definitely better to use eu.gcr.io for everything from the start.
