It's not FUD. We've had countless stories scare mongering about smart TVs that "may be spying on you" If this device was from Samsung I think the giddiness over it would be alot more tempered.

I'm wondering why it took the product being from Amazon for geeks to finally be ok with a device that silently listens to everything you say in your home and sends that data to Amazon's servers.

This was always on the cards but still nice to see. Congrats to all involved. Should be some fun times ahead.

Silly question, but what would you suppose Apple would do if this were a branch of the Chinese govt asking for this?
575.

Wouldn't a better idea be to simply display an error message to the effect of "your phone has undergone untrusted changes, please bring to your nearest Apple store" rather than bricking the whole thing?

It's actually fascinating. When future civilizations read "old" science texts it will be virtually impossible for them to not think of them as crackpot science or fairy tales. The idea of other galaxies ever having existed wi

Wouldn't this imply that future generations may actually lose this history? There would be no way to prove that another galaxy ever existed.

So bizarre how app developers are always so polite and gracious when it comes to Apple. It's like even everyone is deathly afraid of saying anything that puts Apple in a negative light. I can only imagine what this post would have look

Bizarre that this opinion got downvoted, but I agree. It would be nice to have a thriving ecosystem of mobile OS's. I'm a WP user also and will be going Android for my next go round, maybe iOS after that. Would have been nice to t

The very same author in her original review for the iPad gave it a perfect 10 for "ecosystem".

Incredible how developers are always ever so gosh darn polite when complaining about Apple, who in turn tend to respond/not respond in a blatantly passive-aggressive manner. And on and on it goes.

Well in this specific case the shit apparently really hit the fan when a high ranking government official was kidnapped and the criminals were using unregistered MTN sims to communicate. So here we are.

I'm kind of in the "so what" camp. Making mobile apps is a choice an individual, team or company undertakes. To then turn around and say these people are "suffering" is daft. You're a dev, go make something els

I think any devs making the very unlikely switch to Windows would know what they need to do get their POSIX fix. In any case, this article seems to be rightly aimed at non devs.

Developers /need/ a POSIX compliant environment you say? You speak for all of them?

As an Arsenal fan, this somewhat surprises me considering Arsene Wenger seems to be a fairly old fashioned sort of coach these days. It seems an eternity ago that he swept into the league with fresh new ideas. Nowadays many people (wrongl

He was a disgusting person to have treated people this way. It's mildly annoying that he was also brilliant because people end up rationalizing his faults away.

It isn't necessary to "own" a growth market to be successful but having said that, don't discount Office 365 which has already usurped Google's similar offering by all accounts.

You're being downvoted for hyperbole, but there is some truth in what you are saying. This is exactly the type of scenario that groups like ISIS take advantage of, hence their unusually high number of western educated recruits.

Been a very solid upgrade for me. I never minded Windows 8.1 as much as most people did. Windows 10 is actually a great improvement over Windows 7 which is something I never thought would happen given the realities of the PC market today. B
