The M1 and M2 have the same number of cores. I suppose the fabric could have been improved for the M2.

Apple reused the exact same Intel chassis for their previous generation M1 MacBook Air and Pro 13”.

As far as I can tell, there is almost no reason for the 13” MBP to exist.

Nuvia by all accounts has an excellent team. IIRC, Qualcomm has redirected their efforts to laptop SoCs.

It took a team of very expensive lawyers to find that prior art on some old forum. I don't think the patent office has those kinds of resources for each application.

A good way is to have your data arranged in structs of arrays rather than in arrays of structs. This allows the compiler to generate code which just loads in linear sections of memory to SIMD registers. It’s also just more cache efficient i

writing code for SIMD can get you absolutely massive performance improvements. Whether it's worth the added complexity depends on the situation. If your data is already arranged in a cache friendly way (SoA), it shouldn't be incre

Hopefully we'll see AVX-512 in Intel's little cores soon. Centaur's last CPU architecture proves that it is possible to implement the extension without a huge amount of area [0]. Once that happens, I expect we'll finally

I really can’t see the equivalency between a political stance (imo a movement for racial equality) and religion. The former mixes, often by necessity, with technical documents all the time. See GNU or the Apollo program. > In the concret

I'd encourage you to have a go at explaining nonetheless. I'm sure there are at least a few critiques you have which many here would miss, even if they are competent. There's always value in code review, no?

I do feel that BLM is a worthy cause to support. This is mainly because I feel the movement can be seen separately from any formal organizations or individual people. I understand how you may disagree. Regardless, the real disagreement seem

You’re comment and a sibling both express that these messages are off-putting to international audiences? Why is that? BLM originated in the US, but black people definitely experience racism elsewhere. The movement is not necessarily US exc

The iPhone 13 Mini improved battery life significantly. The A15 series is significantly more efficient and they managed to increase the battery capacity. It should last somewhere in the range of 30% longer than the 12 Mini.

The Pixel 5 is closer in size to an iPhone 13 than a 13 Mini. IIRC it’s nearly the exact same size as an iPhone 11 Pro.

One thing I don’t think people appreciate is just how impressively compact the Minis are. Every bit of space is used up. I doubt any Android OEM (with the exception of maybe Samsung) could get make a comparable device. Unless they used some
