Sorry, it seems like you're dug in on this, but you're forcing clients to deserialize enormous object graphs just to figure out if there was a failure or not. This is "surprising" behavior. A better designed system w

Yes, OkHttp is somewhat opinionated. You probably shouldn't include an entity body with a GET request unless you really know what you're doing. I wouldn't recommend it anyhow. Years of tradition make this a risky choice.

Actively abusing/not using the status code is not okay; this is something you see in "written by the intern" web APIs. Use the HTTP status code, please , and include other helpful details in the status message and entity bo

Who says output to stderr means an error has occurred? Or if there's a special file number for logs, why not then five special handles per log level? And that's how you get Windows and WMI.

Not good enough, as 'select *' can in any event introduce ambiguity that is fatal to query processing.

There are various approaches that might or might not improve the runtime outlook (maybe a priority queue, maybe a list that supports fast random access for binary or exponential search, etc.) but wouldn't the only "fast" path

I don't quite see it that way, although maybe we read the problem as something different. Suppose the rate limit is 500 per second; a client makes a burst of 500 requests in one second, sleeps two seconds, then another burst of 500.

The solution described in the article is likely to be extremely wasteful in both time and memory, by allocating a queue entry for each call, and then O(n) scanning and dropping stale entries on each successive call. Tabulating call count by

I have no idea what set off the spate of so-themed band names some years ago - Com Truise, Joanna Gruesome, Dale Earnhardt Jr Jr. Anyhow Chet Baker is no more obscure than John Coltrane, Count Basie, Stan Getz... titans of the mid 20th c.

Who's writing a library? Just use xsv or miller to extract the bits you want from the CSV, change the delimiter or escapes to something more convenient, etc., then feed that to awk or other CSV-unaware text processors.
