After trying Bluehost + Wordpress (easy to buy and get started, but required learning Wordpress) I set something up with Hugo + Netlify. Free, and super easy. Static, very understandable. Look up a simple getting started guide, there are ma

I hate framing it this way but your passionate hating has me doing it - do you build rockets? Or cars? What exactly do you do that gives you such certainty in bringing down these people who have already achieved so much? Their "dream b

You are literally pushing one side of a flame war topic using biased news articles on an article about misinformation. Unreal. Your lack of self awareness makes the quality of your opinions self-explanatory.

Isn’t this because in China some chat and payments app is absolutely massive, WePay I believe? Edit: It’s WeChat. The SV giants are chasing the ubiquity that app enjoys.

Bowling Alone is a great book about the complete collapse of these sort of groups in America.

That doesn’t seem right. Projects now are significantly more developed than they used to be, although scams still abound. In the early days I bought something called Hobonickels and it went up 5,000%. It was literally a copy/paste with

Where is the line of personal responsibility? Fraud should be prosecuted. Isn’t that the protection? These are laws that ensure only the rich can get richer. Terrible. Literally a law that says “you’re too stupid, we’re protecting you”.

What I love about this story is the lack of pr from the company itself. It seems like they just put their heads down and got to work, and they delivered in spades. Meanwhile an EA or an Activision will put out three times as many press rele

I totally disagree and I feel like the only real value I got from schooling was being able to go and ask my teachers tons of questions any time.

The biggest mistake I see engineers make is designing a to z without getting a to m rock solid. Or planning how they’ll structure their future companies under an umbrella without launching one yet. Worrying a lot about much later stages wit

Google is literally a money printer. They could all go on vacation and the thing would run itself. The fact that they will pay execs these sums to do nothing but start and kill yet another useless side product is embarrassing.

Lots of it is goofy. Some of it is wildly deep too. As a police officer you have shifts, tickets to give out, tons of paperwork, break time, arresting, booking, interrogating, rules for shoot outs, you learn all the codes for “officer down”

That stuff matters too but I think the size is what matters. HN stays clean because it stays small. Lots of posts are boring for the average person’s interests. I’ve seen the same thing on Reddit. Once you go above a certain size, a subredd

True, but aren’t you allowed some discretion. Let’s say one person who walks up to you is well dressed and well respected, and the next person is an obvious crackhead with a history of defaulting on friendly bets. I’m not allowed discretion

Hah, you’re comment cracked me up remembering some dude who showed up in a food thread the other day saying that he’d been eating for like $0.30 cents per meal by eating nothing but potatoes. Built different.

I’ll add another method I’m just trying out, attempting to balance speed without meal prep - super simple meals and grocery runs a few times a week. Here’s some I do: 2 or 3 eggs. Toast. 1 pan. 5 or 10 mins max. Bowl oatmeal, dried cranberr
