Hopefully it's equally broken in different ways on various browsers on OS X and Linux. ;-)

When I try to type quickly not even the iPhone knows what the hell I meant to write. :) And that doesn't help for words it doesn't know. Turning auto-correct off might actually be a good idea for me. I'll have to try it and see if I like it

Like they don't hold races for fast cars? T9 drastically improves typing speed on numpads. I could definitely type faster on my old Nokia 6310 than I can on my iPhone. I've only had my iPhone for a year but you think that'd be long enough t

I agree wholeheartedly. The problem with Apple is that people often have extreme opinions about them & their products, whether they love or hate them. Both sides are crazy. There definitely are some Apple customers who look at them with

They're not always right, but they usually do things for a reason. Like how they've stuck with Core 2 in the 13" MacBook, 13" MBP, and MacBook Air. Most other companies throw every new interface and bus in their machines without much though

USB3 also uses more power than USB2. It might not fit the strict power requirements on many of Apple's machines.

If someone only ever has 3 tabs open then tree-style is a waste of space. How is it not subjective? It depends entirely on the user's browsing habits.

It's subjective. I tried and hated tree style tabs. I prefer Chrome these days but Firefox and Safari are still up there, and also fast[1]. It's just nice to have a variety of good browsers to choose from. [1] http://arewefastyet.com (d

To be fair it doesn't start or shut down faster than a Pro w/ an SSD in it. That said I don't need an optical drive and would love to shed 2.5 to 3 pounds. I'm sort of attached to my 1680x1050 display and 8gb of RAM though. A bit unsure if

It is important though. Even with Apple knocking them out of the park every couple of years people don't seem to fully catch on. Dell added a sleep indicator to some of its notebooks and it pulses too quickly and is annoying. You need a c

That's true. In the Sculley interview that was posted the other day a recurring theme was that Apple is a design company first. I think that's good. I like products designed for humans even though my inner geek likes to solve puzzles (figur

Gloating about your notebook of choice just makes you an asshole. I don't want to swap out the components in my notebook every week, that's not a useful feature for me. It's objective! Instead of lame invisible magic scrolling areas on th

I feel the exact same way, but I don't want to give up any specs. I like my Core i7, 8gb, and 250+ GB SSD. Time will solve it but waiting can be hard when you can see the future on the horizon.

Indeed. Most people don't realize it's "OS Ten". Kind of like X11, OS X is probably the last "major" version of MacOS as we know it. By the time they move away from 10.x they'll probably be ready for a new name. I don't quite see how it'll

Nagios is pretty nice. It's dead easy to write custom monitors and clients are everywhere, there's even a Firefox extension. It requires a bit of learning to get going with but it's not so bad and the pay-off is big. That said I'm looking a

It really depends. Taking a hard black&white stance on other side is just silly. Say you have an SSD that consists of 8x16GB chips. Internally it's implemented in something like a RAID0 array, which is why they're so fast. If the capaci
