I know at least a few people who change their reddit and HN identities rather frequently. Some people just want to be relatively anonymous and I'd be wary of attributing it to anything more than that without good reason.

That doesn't matter. They are obligated to investigate each and every phone call to their fullest extent. Only if the same person called repeatedly could they even begin to think about the "boy who cried wolf" excuse.

Long story short it was to reduce the number of chips and thus cost, area, and heat (which leads to noise). There are good articles on this on AnandTech or Ars Technica but I can't find them.

Temporary monopolies. That's pretty key and you omitted it entirely. > If we wanted to reward innovation we'd reward innovators. Instead of wasting money on patents and court we'd give it to people who (according to their peers) did t

In theory it seems like it should though doesn't it? Maybe if we did something to fix the problems it wouldn't be so bad. Right now it's hard for little guys to get patents, partly because it costs a lot of money and time (lawyers are expen

For those of us who haven't hit homebrew's edge cases in years of use are probably fine to keep using homebrew. If it ain't broke... I just want it to install packages. It does that so I'm happy.

It's going to take some getting used to the low contrast for me. Window titles and source list items are much more subtle now, for better and worse. Overall I think I like it. The focus on content should be a good thing. Right now I have a

Node isn't a web framework, it's more of unixy, network oriented stdlib for v8.

It's not the best metaphor but it is a relatively well known and understood saying for many native English speakers (at least in North America). I think some people who have replied to you are trying way too hard to make the metaphor fit. T

The distribution & install story is better w/ a single statically linked exe (imo of course). Not to mention installing node for development and on servers. When everything is in one place it's just so easy. I think the benefit is huge
