Probably because a TVC that doesn't pull its weight will be let go right away. I suspect that the "economic downturn" is just an excuse to trim the fat. Also note the wording in OP: these are "non-billable corporate func

In my experience, a less complex but more thought-through solution often requires more time to implement. It's easy to just stick more layers onto a big ball of mud, but it takes excellence to change it such that these layers aren&#x

FWIW, I work fulltime on a Clojure codebase. There are other companies who also use it (for a more well-known example Metabase). Somehow Clojure is a business-friendly Lisp, probably because of the JVM and all the enterprisey stuff that

Isn't the "For Dummies" series some sort of trademark? I'm amazed they didn't get sued for using the name. Crap like this devalues the rest of the "for dummies" books.

I don't understand how this is not enough to deter patent trolls. Aren't they afraid companies (who tend to have deeper pockets than individuals anyway) will just fight the law suit and, y'know, win?

The Purism Librem 14 isn't half bad either. Currently using it. Love the build quality of the case, matte screen and kill switches. Quality of the built-in speakers is not that great. Keyboard is acceptable. The trackpad is nice and bi

That was my point - OP said it "culls nulls", and the pitfall is that kind of thinking - if you think of it as removing nulls and you're not mindful, you might be deleting things from the list you don't want to be deleti

That's a technologist's typical reaction. However, this is not a technical problem. In reality, if Glassdoor did something like that it's just going to increase the likelyhood of getting targeted directly for libel. Even if s

You can write a custom stemming algorithm and load it as an extension library into Postgres, then use that with `CREATE TEXT SEARCH DICTIONARY` to create a custom dictionary. It's not as difficult as it sounds - you can use the default

AFAIK the "candid camera"-like TV shows would approach the people afterwards and ask for permission to use the footage. They probably did it only because otherwise they'd get sued into oblivion.

I wonder why most(?) editions of The Hobbit don't have them though. They're wonderful and arguably a part of the work. Omitting them seems like such a shame to me.

On the linked subpage with tech stacks, I don't see a way to filter for country. This is relevant because even though it's 100% remote, there are different tax rules or even difficulties working in certain countries. Also, cool to

Paying for the content is what Apple TV is doing, isn't it? You can "rent" (one-time view) a video for a lower price, or "buy" the video at a higher price (which isn't the same as owning it, of course. It just

Not having to think about how to use a certain tool or software application means you free up time to think about more important matters . It's not about not thinking, it's about not needing to think about needless trivialities.

I've done the same (bought a house, kept the old one for rental) and used an agency as a middle man. They take care of collecting rent, and the day to day business if, say, a plumber needs to be called (I just have to sign off on it).
