Pandas is a very difficult api to use correctly and a huge swath of programs that the AIs have trained on was "programmed by accident" meaning people just typed stuff at it until they got the output they wanted. To offset all the

My gut feeling when using DeepSeek is that its performance is a lot smoother, the responses feel more robust and not as brittle.

Totally agree, researchers shouldn't rely on ArXiv as being their only publishing platform. Also due to the rigid narrow format of the paper, each paper should have a page, to link to the code, link to the talk about the paper, etc. It

I have used LTO5 drives under FreeBSD and Linux. Under Linux I used both LTFS and tar. There was zero issues with software.

Used LTO5+ drives are incredibly cheap, you can get a whole tape library with two drives and many tape slots for under 1k. Tapes are also way more reliable than hard drives.

You can get LTO5+ drives on ebay for $100-400. Buying new doesn't make sense for homelab.

Tape is extremely cheap now. I booted up a couple laptops that have been sitting unpowered for over 7 years and the sata SSD in one of them has missing sectors. It had zero issues when shutdown.

I have been getting paid to write Python since the late 90s and it amazes me how it consistently has these needless own goals, yet still keeps on going in spite of itself. Way to go Python! spaCy should make Cython optional hard fork Cython
