I really appreciate Ben Eater's production values. He doesn't gloss over mistakes, but it's not just a direct recording of experiments. His videos have a definitely planned direction and it makes it much easier to watch.

I thought VAT models were used because it forces honesty at all levels. If you want to claim back the VAT on your inputs you have to declare them, so the tax department can spot a difference between declared inputs and outputs. It’s still p

Oh wow this brings back memories. I spent many of my teenage year playing, modding and beta testing the Escape Velocity games. I learnt 3d modelling for modding using a pirated copy of lightwave (I’m not proud, but a 13 year old in New Zeal

Running fuel-rich is cool since the fuel won’t find extra oxidiser to burn. Excess hot oxidiser on the other hand can often fuel. Like the combustion chamber wall.

That's not how probability works. Each draw is an independent event from every previous draw, doing a draw with a 1 in 20 million chance of a given sequence 20 million times will not draw every sequence once.

More likely they need to understand what effect changing the thread limit would have - for example it could increase kernel memory usage or increase scheduler latency. It’s not something you want to mess with in an outage.

Due to regional frequencies ZWave products can cost a lot more outside the US. For example here in New Zealand due to the AU/NZ frequency region you'd be lucky to find a basic switch for less than NZ$80, which is around US$55. Typ

I have a Panasonic inverter microwave, and it does solve the problem quite well. The standing waves aren't solved, but the lower continual heating lets the energy conduct in the food without overheating parts.

US sockets aren't switched, so the only way to remove power from a device is to unplug it. Most things have power switches but not everything, and some people are very keen on unplugging.

You need a sufficiently large reserve to allow the reactor to cool, not an infinite supply. Reactors can be shut down and in this case the pool is sized to absorb all decay heat from the shutdown, plus a significant safety margin.

Intel already license the ARM core IP and used to build their own ARM chips under the XScale brand. They sold the line off in 2007 IIRC but retained the ARM architectural license. The only thing that stops them is their will to do it.
