But why, Native is always better

You missed privacy. The user lost privacy with webapps.

Is there any hope for a native desktop app?

God I hope not. GSuite is a resource hog, well almost any webapp is. Also, it makes it more insecure. It is always better to have native apps that work off-line than a webapp

Are you going to release it on Windows 11?

Figma's value is ease of use. You do not need the cloud for that. You do realize that most laptops, and especially workstations have more than enough power and storage to do what a web backend does.

It has a desktop app that you can use offline. My problem with any webapp SaaS app is that you loose control of the data. That is one thing I don't like about figma

The biggest issue I see with this is that it is web-based. It should be decentralized and have a native desktop client. 70% of the world has crappy internet, and if your connection goes down you are sol.

Screw all of this SaaS needs to die a horrible death. All of these webapps/SaaS products are just data collection apps that can lock you out at any moment. We need to get back to owning our data and installing locally.

The Windows container team has released a new base Windows host process container image that is just a few KB. It is like a privileged Linux container. This could be interesting for managing Windows deployments, just put all your PowerShell

People would download the desktop app and content if it existed rather than using a webapp. Look at mobile, people want actual apps not webapps

This needs to be able to be run locally/natively. Most companies would not want to run this with their proprietary data in a third party SaaS

The problem is that everything has gone to SaaS application. Salesforce is not any better than goldmine is. It is just better marketing spin. We need to get back to thick apps, and use decentralized methods of collaboration.

I don't see any plans for support of Windows Server. Do you know of any plans for it? Since it still has about 75% of the on-prem server market

If he wants the enjoyment of programming and being in tech, but not have the agisum have him go in to devops. He would thrive there with his management skill set and his found ability to program. Plus an SRE or Devops engineer gets paid as

Which isn't true with all the access the latest html5 apps want to your hdd, webcam, etc .... They can take over your system silently and you don't need to click on anything

Also, if you track the up and coming chromeos ;). It has only become more widely used since the inclusion of actual apps albeit they are Android apps.

But the performance is worse. I point out the example of a small spreadsheet. Open it in Google sheets, and you are using 1/2 gigs+ in ram plus heavy cpu. Open it in a desktop app maybe you will use 20 to 30 mb of ram, and low cpu usag

It's the chicken and the egg issue. People would purchase desktop apps if they were offered. But since they are not there is no support for them. As developers, it enthusiasts, etc ... we need to bring them to the forefront again.

Surprisingly a lot. Look at steam or epic games. If those platforms also advertised non game software, people would buy it.

This doesn't explain the mobile app boom then. There are more Windows desktop devices than all of all the Apple ecosystem. Also, there is a higher cost for webapps, since you need to host it on your own instance. If you want an easy de
