Interesting choices. My smaller, more humble, totally local homelab uses InfluxDB v2 + Telegraf for observability and alerting. Plain old multicast-DNS with Avahi for, somewhat clunky, convention-based service discovery. Ansible for deployi

For rsync tasks that require scheduling and need to ensure only a single instance executes, I personally prefer creating a systemd service (type=oneshot) and have that run under a systemd timer (set OnBootSec, OnUnitActiveSec) https:/

You're likely right. Some stable power feeder does need to exist, but could it skip the chemical energy storage parts? The charge-discharge cycles needlessly put a lifespan on that component when I'd like to have it left on 24x7.

I set up an old phone to run a torrent client (qbittorrent). It was a Debian 8 chroot [1] that I could ssh into. In the end, it really wasn't worth the hassle. Networking ports would go unresponsive when the mobile CPU on the phone wou

For mobile, if you ask me, the only sane cross-platform strategy is what Kotlin Multiplatform Mobile [1] intends to do: portable business logic, and leave the UI aspects to each platform, keeping them native. Both Android and iOS have been

I can see why Chromium-based browsers such as Vivaldi (non-opensource) are increasingly baking in features of popular extensions into the browser (ad-blocker, dark mode). First, there's the risk of Chrome Web Store simply not being ava
