In my college statistics class, we learned MatLab and R using data from the Challenger to recreate why the engineers thought the o-ring might fail and raised the warning. I don't remember the specifics of all the stats, but it was fasc

Unless I missed something, there's no clarity in the article about whether or not Waymo eventually got issued a citation. But I also couldn't watch the full video without being bombarded by ads and audio that started running headl

It would be great if YouTube implemented something similar to community notes. Either that or show a warning on channels that share the same display name as a verified channel.

YouTube just served up this video to me on the home page. On first glance, I thought it was a new Telsa announcement. Then a few minutes in realized it's an AI redub for a bitcoin scam. To a casual viewer, it might just look like the a

Yep! That's the link for Permute. I have it through the SetApp bundle, but it's the same. I use LosslessCut to trim and then Permute to speed up or crop. I almost always speed up my screen recording by 20% to make them feel higher

I used to use Handbrake but now only use LosslessCut. I find lossless to be easier to use if I just need quick trims or edits.

I'm a big fan of lossless cut and use it almost every day. Typical use case for me is to trim or edit screen recordings. Since it's lossless, the saving of the edited videos is almost instantaneous. It's basically just a GUI

While we're chatting road signs, here's my favorite of all time. Instead of reading as two locations down the same road, it reads as a sort of deep thought on hedging one's bet. "Historic Life Saving Station Cemetery&quo

Looks like a lot of the signs are also outdated. Would be cool to see the full history of how the signs evolved over the years. Nevada's new sign is a lot different than the one shown. Here's the new one: https://lh3.go

Thanks for sharing. This has a lot of promise once browsers fully support anchor positioning. With the current rate of CSS standards adoption, my guess is Firefox and Safari will add support by end of this year. Pure speculation as they hav

The docker version[1] worked better for me to test out. The free website version does not have all the features (like Chromium) enabled which is why some of the report data is missing or incorrect. Looks like a super promising project! Than

Are we going to start seeing Google Maps offer alternate routes to avoid sketchy bridges? Seems possible. Airline booking sites already offer filters to exclude 737 Max planes.

This seems reasonable, but there's also the concern of abuse of power. Like when the mob or politicians had control of local labor unions and inspectors on payroll. They would force closures of bridges, roads, building, etc to hire mob
