Its just like if you get a restaurant franchise. A portion of your income goes back to the manufacturer for national sales, and you have to spend at least so much of your income on local advertising.

Uh, 37signals use to be a design firm while they were building their startup. They design inhouse, only some sort of companion app for 37signals was designed by that graphic designer.

That's what the article is saying if your storing it on "small mom and pop biz mysql DBs" they won't let you get a account. You may buy through Paypal; but, most buyers don't.

I understand and other people do it to. Just having a few karma points and comments elsewhere make people feel your here for more than to promote your business. Also 3 pop-ups before I even get to the site?

People aren't even reading the article anymore. They tried charging for it, didn't make as much as ads.

Opening the site automatically brings up a box to login or signup. Annoying as I didn't even know what the site did at all. Maybe just push everyone into a demo mode and put a sign-up link on there. Also try and contribute more to a commu
