Vancouver HN April Meetup
- Maven911 18y agowe should have a Montreal one too!! who is up for it?
- rdl 18y agoHow big a scene is Vancouver for HN-type people? I'm thinking of basing my next startup either there or in Seattle, and presence of HN readers would be a positive factor for either.
- simonk 18y agoThere's quite a few of us, we have about 10 people show up to each meetup and we just started up a couple months ago. Although I have no idea what Seattle is doing.
- dmix 18y agoWe're moving our startup to Vancouver from Toronto (ideally) this spring. It's closer to the valley and the weathers much nicer. Once I'm in the city I'll attend the HN meetups.
- avibryant 18y ago+1 for coming to Vancouver. My perspective is maybe skewed: two different YC companies (Snipshot, Auctomatic) have sublet office space from us, so we've been more surrounded by the YC/HN culture than most. But I would say that we at least have critical mass here, and it's a very nice place to be.
- jbox 18y agoVancouver has many regular meetings that would probably be of interest to most HN reader. If you're new in town you might want to check out these events: Django Meetup (small hacker crowd): http://www.meetup.com/djangovan/ http://www.meetup.com/djangovan/ Mobile Monday Vancouver (more business-y): http://www.momovan.com/ http://www.momovan.com/ Launch Party Vancouver(more business-y): http://launchpartyhq.com/ http://launchpartyhq.com/ Vancouver Python User Group (bit more academic): http://wiki.python.org/moin/VanPyZ http://wiki.python.org/moin/VanPyZ
