It depends on the type of the game. Deus Ex, Vampire the Masquerade, (many) Fallout games and countless others have no or little driving and I don't think it would really elevate those games. Would Vampire the Masquerade be a better ga

The multiple path concept is evidence of CDPR biting more than they could chew. They spread themselves too thin, the game is less than the sum of its parts because half-finished subsystems weigh down what can be a very solid game when it fo

I have zero faith that a significant proportion of consumers will switch to iOS solely for privacy reasons. We've seen time and again that mainstream consumers would gladly surrender all their private info if it saves them $100.

The fact that these popups are contained within the frame of the website makes them less abusive, although it also makes it harder to dismiss them.

>This is a consumer problem - "you get what you pay for." It's pretty clearly not the case here. I've paid full price for what I thought were legit items on Amazon and received fakes. That's the whole point, the

I agree, I still think that git vs mercurial was the VHS vs betamax of VCSs. Git was better for the kernel, but mercurial was better for basically everything else. Saner defaults, much more user friendly, better CLI and GUI, better docs etc

You can learn quite a lot by writing a toy raytracer with things like textures, shadows, bump mapping and the like. Of course raytracers don't work like polygonal hardware rendering but a lot of the maths and concept do carry over I&#x

Correcting people when they use wrong pronouns is distracting but I get it, but can we at least not correct people for not using the right variety of neutral pronouns?

I wasn't talking solely about technical merits. I was also talking about marketing and everything else. Google can (and does) push Chrome aggressively through a multitude of channels. How can Mozilla beat that?

It's silly git nomenclature for "human readable output". Except it's not even used consistently within git. What the parent mean is that some tool rely on the human-oriented, potentially unstable output of git commands i

You won't be able to beat Chrome by technology alone. I actually don't know how Mozilla can beat Chrome. Google has an extremely strong incentive to capture the web client market. Whatever Mozilla can do to make Firefox more popul

Most tiling WMs are highly configurable, so the idea is that you script them to your tastes and then they do the work for you. I use a rather heavily customized version of dwm myself, and I have things like custom placement rule: I want my

The Signal devs have always been extremely hostile to anybody making third party clients, because they say they know better than everybody else. Instead of making a library or daemon that could interoperate with third party software and dec

The desktop app is very useful but it's mainly because there's no alternative. It's bloated, slow, under-featured. Telegram also has an electron desktop app but at least it lets me do ultra-advanced things like changing the s

It would sometimes work but I think this (very common comment) misses the general point, there's absolutely fine and non buggy on warning-worthy code that can be optimized away if the compiler relies on UB. A very simple example:

I would argue that the C for loop is a rather awkward construct. It's found its way in many languages, so I think most people are used to its idiosyncrasy but it's not great if you try to take a fresh look at it. I think the best

Isn't Pornhub's content always public, whereas Facebook's can be segregated to smaller groups of people? If that's the case it seems that illegal content could remain undetected for far longer on FB rather than Pornhub.

Remember that a group of Minecraft players managed to reverse-engineer the seed of a map based on a single low res screenshot using, among other things, the shape of clouds. Human ingenuity is really impressive sometimes.
