Bear Stearns collapsed on March 16, 2008. Lehman Brothers on Sept 15, 2008. It took 6 months from the first major one to widespread carnage and bailouts. I can't tell what will be but I wouldn't assume we're out of the woods

Saying absolutely nothing new here, but your work is so damn inspiring! I wish I had such a natural connect to my work, an ability to distill complex concepts down to the fundamentals, and such inventiveness! I took your CS231N class at Sta

I've read Company X develops Hydrogen car for decades now. Not an expert on feasibility, but I doubt any of these cos. have the guts to start a new category like this, and will wait for somebody else to prove value first. This is how T

I used mypy in 2019, and it felt like duct tape on python at best.

Building a company in Python feels like a bet against yourself ie the company/codebase will never get big enough that using Python (lack of static typing etc) will ever be a problem

Centralized coordination complexity v/s decentralized FF rollout complexity. The bigger the team contributing to a deploy, the better the latter gets because engineers rolling out their FF have all the context they need.

How about use Feature flags and ship daily? Decouple your release-schedule/deployments from your product iteration/launch timeline.

As somebody who's worked at startups aplenty, this is ok advice for the first X years of your career, where X might be ~2-5. Beyond that, if you're still joining startups to found one eventually, you have to question what you'

I am in the same boat as an employee who left a cushy job at G to join a startup with the motivation to start my company, but I feel there's a limit to "preparation" and one needs to be honest and take the plunge. Else, I am

Similar to the HN'er who dismissed dropbox as an ftp clone (iirc), some geeks live so close to the tech that they can see how a product is simply an iteration on what they understand/own etc. and miss the marvel of the entire pack

It's true that it's not backed, and that's a pro (we'll get to that), but Bitcoin is better than Fiat for many reasons: 1) impossible to confiscate 2) fixed supply and issuance rate - can't just print it away when t
