Research software engineers need to be more recognized. In my workplace, I am the rare one who can code C++ to work with drivers for real time stuff and develop C# GUIs for convenience and automation. Everyone else is happy with Python or M

Since you mentioned ML, I assume you'll need linear algebra (LA). I hated it for a long time since the notation abstracts away too many things. You can look at an equation involving matrices, but you cannot imagine how it would be code

This makes me think that there is still use for a Nokia "dumb" phone. I held on to mine for several years even when everyone else was using iPhones.

I also couldn't find anything new that rivals the iPod Nano 7th gen's form factor and focused features. I tried looking at Sony players, but they are usually bigger or have an interface that is not as friendly. Knowing it is (soon

I once worked under a research grant where the leader is trying to impress by delivering more than promised, i.e. doing a related side project that is not part of the original plan. Upon learning about this "secret" side project,

The idea of having a "field" is that a 2d slice of it allows calculating light elsewhere from the field using optical propagation calculations. But this requires phase measurements in addition to intensity which is only what conve

Lox is a more featured language than Monkey, meaning that you'll learn more techniques to implement those features. Lox has classes and a garbage collector for the bytecode implementation and is closer to C++'ish languages. While

I occasionally wonder if a limited 386/486 architecture would get an advantage over current mini Atom x86 boards (e.g. Latte Panda). Would it have a smaller foot print and power requirement? Or is the economics just making it not worth
