This could be part of why work from home doesn't work for me. I missed having spacious work areas, given my crammed apartment unit. I can simulate the walking for travel to work but that comes in bursts at set times, unlike just walkin

On a streak so far. I'm playing "can you tell which picture has a non blurry background and has no artifacts?" edit: My first mistake is when I thought a piece of fabric on a human was unusually warped.

One of the reasons I like Linux and its window managers. Not only are current Windows themes limited, they also are inconsistent. It hurts my eyes to look at title bars staying white when everything else is in dark mode. That actually gave

Try (or pretend to :-)) the "obvious" things that might get answered and state you've tried them (and reasonably failed).

Same. I'm looking for challenging projects to improve my skills. I've learned a lot from implementing language interpreters. I'm guessing OS implementation can be equally rewarding. I've looked at the Minix and Xinu book

Wine on Windows is technically interesting, even if others might argue that it's pointless. At the very least, these are also good tests of how much compatibility the layers provide. There's also WineVDM that actually solves a &qu

Being able to replace the shell is actually possible since 3.x, also using the method you described. It was fun using Calmira to make win 3.x look like 9x.

For me, it's the GUI and widgets that is the reason for using Qt. So seeing these in "long-term plan" makes it less useful as a possible lean alternative (for me at least). But then again, I had experienced modifying some har

Are there already recommended widgets for desktop? I've read a little and it seems that you have to write your own widgets or use existing ones that don't seem comparable to something like winforms/gtk. Lazarus is attractive

If anything, programming helps someone appreciate math more, which in turn gives additional motivation to learn. For some people, it's not fun to learn math and only be able to apply it on paper. Some of my earliest Visual Basic progra

If the PDF is from a scanned source, converting it to DJVU with equivalent DPI typically results to about half the file size (figures can vary depending on the specifics of the PDF source).

Besides Lazarus itself, in my opinion after watching the video demo, this may be the best opensource software written in Lazarus/Freepascal. Sad that I knew about this before but ignored it wrongly thinking CUDA had to do with GPUs.
