Not to forget that Microsoft is pushing metro everywhere. If somehow Windows 8 becomes a success with the consumer market, I see limitless demand for Metro tablets and consequently metro phones.

The priests did not write research papers and publish it in peer-reviewed journals. Neither did they bother with controls in experiments. So please don't be snarky.

And SoftwareMaven said that you don't have a control. What he meant is that, if these values hadn't been reminded there's a very high probability that honest people might have done dishonest things, and dishonest people might have done dish

I actually like this idea. The idea of Flesch-Kincaid tests. There was a guy on reddit who analyzed the words on different subreddits and he came to the conclusion that the average word was 'because', and average word length was around 6.7

Although I want to agree with you, I'm highly skeptical on the super-downvote feature. In my relatively short time here, I've seen comments by certain top contributors being argued viciously(is that the word, English is not my first languag

Oh, thank god for that. Generally I've lived without an Amazon account because they don't work outside the US. But this one, combined with the post that helped generate fake US addresses pushed me to do it. Actually, now I'm pretty sure why

But with a clear cut system like the one mentioned above, why shouldn't new members get to downvote as well? The system would clearly convey its intended usage, and in the process bring new members up to speed faster. If you still want to i

Your experiment matches Dan Ariely's experiment very well. In his book, "Predictably Irrational" when people are made to remember the ten commandments or even the thought of ten commandments, or any such honesty pledge, their dishonesty lev

To the browser, unless you have a pre-populated list, the autocomplete URLs are just a list of strings. How should it know if penisland.com is a website that sells pens or otherwise? Also, where do draw the line really? therapistfinder.com?

If I may add on to your points, I think if this would've blown up out of proportion it wouldn't actually have helped even if Apple came and made an official statement saying that these rumours are false. Nobody believes Apple in such cases,

I'm a bit disappointed that they didn't take this as a chance to try out cobbling up a "radiation box" and put commercial equipment in that. Surely, that would be a good experiment data point that could be used in future endeavors.

I'm just wondering if you're not working on any of the three ideas at all, why not mention them atleast? Someone else may benefit out of it. On the other hand, if you plan to re-visit them in the future...

I'm interested in this pricing psychology? Till what point would people say, "Fuck it, I don't care". $9.95? $14.95? or even $19.95? I think $20 bucks is pushing it. Maybe $15 might be the largest "throwaway" money for most people.

This is crazy and creepy, but during weekends, one could possibly stalk out at malls looking for people discarding receipts. Pick it up and hurry towards them. When you accost them, mention in no unclear terms "Sir/Ma'am, with this receipt

Calling it an "application specific password" is actually a misnomer. WE create the app-labels. For all practical purposes it's a backdoor entry into your account. So, I'd say for absolute 2FA, you must give up Chrome browser profiles, devi

Why is it stupid for Amazon to show the last 4 digits? Let's say I have 3 cards on file. If I want to modify card #2 for some reason (billing address, expiry date) what do I do? Sure, I can look at the other details and take a guess, but we
