IANAL. Unless you are the copyright holder, I don't think it is up to you to release the code.

This looks quite nice. Quite often, I want to read the code that corresponds to the exact version of an official package that I am already running on my system. I hope other distributions do something similar. I always run into trouble co

I like Tom Duff's http://www.iq0.com/duffgram/com.html for experimental programs contained in a single file.

The underlying problem is things like mysql that scatter things all over the place. Docker only encourages such sloppiness, IMHO.

Exactly. Also, source control is not backup. It is possible for bugs in git or mistakes in your workflow to mess up all the copies of your repository.

The actual author of p2c has the good taste to not call it a transpiler. https://schneider.ncifcrf.gov/p2c/historic/daves.index-2012J...

The claims of transparency would be a bit more meaningful if they simply published their source code. It is hard to imagine anything too precious to disclose in the code. Instead what we have is a pdf (4 pages long) with the title "Tu

Page 35 of this paper has this sentence. One can also envisage a "transpiler" capable of converting a program from one such style into another with considerable generality. Are there any other known citations of the term "t

How can outsiders even begin to effectively maintain documentation for obscure macOS things like DAS and CTS? I can't be the only person who has never heard of these before.

You don't explain how "disassemble" is useless, but the rest of the things you mention are extremely superficial.

I tried and failed. I used Bing for a few days right after Google pulled the plug on Google Reader. I was really mad at Google. Bing was quite terrible and I went crawling back to Google Search in pretty much no time.

https://www.gnu.org/software/emacs/ and https://www.gnu.org/software/guile/ two good looking (IMHO) GNU project websites that I know of. There may be others.

How often do you need to look at these web pages? The vast majority of the time these things get installed from package managers.

Okay, but it still seems strange to claim compiled-ness as some sort of intrinsic property of a language .

What properties of C indicate that it is meant to be compiled? The word "compiler" does not appear in the ISO/IEC 9899:1999 standard (aka C99) in any meaningful way (there is just one sentence in a footnote).

Here is another http://compcert.inria.fr [08/2011] Release of version 1.9 of the Compcert C compiler. Novelties include a reference C interpreter and stronger semantic preservation results.

What I understand is that they invented a language called Crystal. And they made a compiler for it. The phrase "compiled language" is not very meaningful. It is quite possible for someone to make a Crystal interpreter.
