I’m hoping Let’s Encrypt will do S/MIME someday. Most email clients support S/MIME.

The kernel is called XNU. https://opensource.apple.com/source/xnu/ It is mainly written in C.

If you look at the NetBSD kernel source https://github.com/NetBSD/src.git , it doesn't look like there are any real and substantial Lua kernel modules. $ find sys -name '*.lua' sys/modules/

Does installing this update bump up the macOS 10.13.x version number? I’m still on Sierra so I’m just curious. Thanks!

Everything. If you do something twice, you are doing it wrong.

Nice project that I will spend some time studying. However, fewer than 200 lines is not really a virtue, IMHO.

It is very unlikely that any of this needs elevated privileges. What is the ownership and permission of the directories you can’t remove? Edit: rm -rf instead of sudo rm -r should work

I spotted sudo in the last line of the Readme.

Why is sudo needed?

TLDR of why less cluttered preprocessor output matters? I’d say cpp output is usually not that interesting on a daily basis.

I have not tried it, but the one-liner to fetch a single file that is mentioned here https://stackoverflow.com/a/14610427/78720 seems plausible

I am self taught as well and have tried studying CS on my own over the years. Do you mind sharing details on the particular topics you considered stumbling blocks? Thanks!

I hope Let's Encrypt does S/MIME certificates someday. Almost all major email clients support it.

I'd go further and say that it is redundant to even say 'source-to-source'. Just 'compiler' is enough, IMHO. See the first few pages of any compiler book. https://books.google.com/books?id=_tgh4bgQ

Sure. All this is absolutely cool. What isn't is using questionable words like transpiler . Citations needed on whether that is an actual meaningful word (Wikipedia isn't it).

I don't understand how RISC-V will lead to open platforms. Vendors of RISC-V SoC's will most likely include their own Intel ME type bullshit.

For those of us unfamiliar with this stuff, would it be accurate think of a "template engine" as a sophisticated "printf"?

No. "Stack" is an implementation detail. I don't think the standard even mentions the word "stack" anywhere.

Why do third-party BIOS vendors exist in the first place? Any reason why Intel, AMD and the motherboard vendors can't make their own BIOS, perhaps leveraging CoreBoot?

You can adjust your function pointer typedefs if you like. e.g. signal(2) http://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man2/signal.2.html typedef void (*sighandler_t)(int); sighandler_t signal(int signum, sighandler

How many people who buy an Apple computer need to install and run a C compiler? EDIT: BTW, it is trivial to install clang without Xcode on a pristine Mac. Just typing cc in Terminal will pop up an installer that will download and install c

Apple is not responsible for every piece of third party software, especially niche tools like gcc, gdb and valgrind. It is up to the maintainers of those tools to keep up with new macOS releases. Beta releases of macOS are made available
