If you spent some time applying clearly it’s only fair I spend some time talking to you? I have yet to encounter a case where people applied and they weren’t even remotely a fit. When that happens I may consider changing this strategy.

lol, I talk to people regardless of what they put in their resume. To me, a resume is more a “please call me” than an expectation that what’s in the resume precisely fits. I don’t expect folks to tailor resume to fit each time they apply to

:-) I am not convinced engineers cannot be trained to also be great managers. A lot of managers were devs in the past choosing to take management roles to increase salary and forsake programming to satisfy rules implemented in their environ

Right. I wasn’t clear above. I do not mean recursive. For example, I don’t expect a CEO to do dev work: different skillset.

Understood. Apologies, I didn’t understand what was being prioritized previously. Previous replier clarified. Agree that otherwise this reduces to a handshake problem.

What is the reason though? Was there some survey done that analyzes why this strategy is used (in large tech firms)? I am going to start looking into past research to see if any have delved into this question.

Got it— prioritization of say features vs prioritization of tasks in the backlog, as an example. Management is necessary— I don’t think management’s function to a company can be discounted. I am advocating for certain traits I think a manag

Mmm, what I was arguing for is that a manager ought to have sufficient experience that they can substitute for and work as any individual under them. I understand that many large institutions are constructed in a mechanism you describe. In

The issue is more complex and nuanced than simply paying agents 6% commission and feeling you did not get your money's worth. One could argue that a lot of buyers agents and sellers agents are horrible at their jobs. However, having me

Probably best to talk to a tax advisor-- and I am not one. I think the first time you owe a lot in taxes you are not assessed a penalty (if you keep owing every year, you are). This filing season is also exceptional due to tax bracket chang

I fear all we have now is anecdotal evidence. :-) In my case, it was a gradual conversion to Google from Altavista than something immediate. So, funny thing: Back then, if one search engine didn't have what you were looking for, you wo

If I remember correctly, Altavista produced better results than Google back then, for me at least. However, Altavista took seconds to load the first page (on 56k) whereas Google's first page loaded almost immediately. I honestly didn&#

Very unlikely it will be Crystal City. Based on parameters that news lifted on qualifiers for HQ2. 1. There isn't sufficient space for a large campus. 2. DCA is a small airport. Loudoun county has a higher chance than Crystal City base
