The important distinction is the type of user making the complaint. A youtube partner gets their comments deleted whereas random people don't. It would then go without saying, the larger the voice the more scrutiny it may receive. All

It's intellectually lazy arguing. They're basically trying to take the position of "It's not real until you can have a scientific or political consensus by APPROVED thought leaders." It's a chicken and egg issu

That's the first thing I noticed when reading, it's complaining that if you don't batch your writes the performance suffers substantially. It warrants an audible "duh". More work is always going to run slower.

What is almost never considered is that these large corporations don't pay public pricing. It's all negotiated to be heavily discounted. Bandwidth is hardly an issue like it is for regular customers.

Sounds anti-competitive and monopolistic to deem all games must be centralized and hosted on cloud providers. Regardless of simplicity of hosting it implies a cost and maintenance to those systems. Meanwhile decentralization democratizes th

Kind of defeats the purpose of decentralization then when you put it all in AWS, huh?

I've had the luxury of building out an entire platform with ChatOps that built groups of people who had access to do deployments and mutate infrastructure. It definitely was a neat project using chat flows, but I ultimately said "

Well they aren't necessarily incorrect, TTLs can be a pain. However that's why when you do a migration you lower the TTLs and eat the cost of lookup requests. Wait until your previous TTL lease expires (which is 2x the TTL) then s

More proof that SlackOps/ChatOps is a failed methodology. I'm not quite sure what the fascination is with it. It's certainly neat for querying infrastructure but I certainly wouldn't rely on it for critical infra. Maybe

It's only a matter of time before the "engaging" arguments are promoted to the top of a twitter feed. Maybe for extremely low traffic posts, but what I see from the top is a snarky comment from Nicolai which essentially is re

Inversely, 10 years of software built around a software bug. I'm not sure why I'm seeing so many Tweets being pushed to the top of HN? Why not just link to the actual presentation and not the arguing hivemind that is Twitter? htt

Do you have any mention on the speed of delivery from R2? That is the only avenue why I can see why paying for S3 is worth it. Sure egress may be free, but what's the point if I can't download a file faster than 1MB/s.

I can't edit for some reason, but some seem to think that I was responding to the content of the article. I literally could not read the content because of it being paywalled. Hence my comment.

I've been flip flopping between Rust and Go and landed on primarily Rust due to not liking how imports are done by URL in Go. Probably works for Google, but it doesn't make sense for most use cases where you want to handle major v
