Ah, I guess this term is overloaded. I am not familiar with the specific PG offerings, but more complex search engines are often based on indexing pairs of words (bigrams) as opposed to individual keywords. Pairs of words together are much

That's not how economists use rationality. Individuals derive other enjoyments from gambling besides their earnings. This desire to seek things they like is the "rationality", purposeful behavior, not the ability to make opti

Every initiative is just "another $1 a week". You add a few thousand of those taxes and pretty soon it's real money.

Does it cost money to produce high quality training sets? Yes. Would an organization or individual be willing to pay for samples for their data set? Absolutely. It seems pretty easy to discern that value is being taken from people.

You can write basically the same code with different syntax, or you can learn the paradigms, styles, and idioms associated with each language. That latter is the valuable part because it teaches you a new way to conceptualize and approach p

Since most deployed applications search with: "for item in ... if item.containsSubstring(query)" I would say it's definitely useful for real apps.

Do you index keywords or bigrams? Bigrams provide context and help a ton with relevancy.

I completely agree with the sentiment, but i'm sure deals are made on less trivial factors all the time. They just aren't explicitly stated.

That's true, but it's also more competitive to get into PhD programs. You have to have research potential and strong undergrad academic performance. OP says he is self-taught.

Europeans have significantly different attitudes and values towards work and the economy, not to mention constraints. It certainly shows what's possible, but I don't think it's a great comparison.

If that period really was remarkable, I think the outcome of a worse period is just lower expected returns, not the end of the world. Japan is often used as an example. But, if you invested regularly in Japanese stocks over that period of s

This is just a nature/nuture debate. Even if it's entirely nurture (which I doubt), you can't undo your childhood and cultural influences. There are meta-skills and interests you have which are effectively immutable.

Well any kind of nuance or perspective. Here is one thing to consider. A pension trades returns for stability. People pick a pension as their form of retirement because they have a lower risk tolerance. Anytime these tradeoffs are happening
