I clearly remember that somewhere in 2001 I wrote to postgres (-bugs maybe) mailing list about a problem that we had with one of our server (it's a pity I didn't find the thread on the archives). pg_xlog run out of space due to some problem

Did they try to post about their problem on postgresql mailing list (both pgsql bugs and general apply here)? Postgres community is quite responsive and usually give very effective advice, as long as you use the proper channel to communicat

Postgresql documentation is terrific, really [1]. Then you can also use pgsql wiki [2]. Other useful resources are the searchable mailing lists archive [3]. Have a look also to pgcon.org web site, it's fully packed of presentation material

you use the /usr/bin/script program to record a transcript of a session. no term emulators that i know of provide this kind of feature natively though.

@work we have done a lot of this kind of validations using a custom Tcl script, and luckily we have avoided to be blacklisted till now. Maybe it's due to the fact that validation requests come from an IP address marked as MX for the domain
