Yes :) We heard the feedback that we should pick a lane between CI and AI agents. We're refocusing on CI. We're making Dagger faster, simpler to adopt. We're also building a complete CI stack that is native to Dagger. The end

What I would tell my younger self: Only listen to your users and customers, ignore everyone else. Don't hire an external CEO unless you're ready to leave. Hiring a CEO will not fix the loneliness of not having a co-founder. Having

containerd is the lower half of dockerd, spun out by Docker as a standalone open source project. It remains a core component of Docker.

OP is wrong. Docker created containerd, then donated to cncf, then other contributors joined.

I've been working for the last 5 years on an alternative called Dagger. Ended up building a company around it. We started from the ideal state of CI, and set out to build the platform that would support that. For us this ideal state of

Are you based in Europe? Gitlab has a much stronger presence there. In the US Gitlab adoption is much weaker in my experience.

Could you share an example of aws-cdk code that you think Dagger should take inspiration from? Dagger and aws-cdk work very differently under the hood, so it's difficult to make an apples-to-apples comparison. If there's a way to

I understand. We really did try to port the CUE SDK over to the new APIs, but there were impedance mistmatches that made it difficult to do so without major breaking changes - basically we would have needed to design a new SDK from scratch.

Hi Kasper, good to see you here! Thank you for the detailed feedback. 1. Yes we got over-excited with the agent runtime use case. We stand by the LLM implementation because we never compromised on the integrity of Dagger's modular desi

Dagger founder here. We moved away from CUE because the number one complaint from our early users was having to learn CUE. The number two complaint was bugs in the language that we diligently escalated upstream, but would never get fixed, i

You can filter input directories before they are loaded, to avoid this. There's no reason you shouldn't be able to get precise cache invalidation in a large monorepo. If you want, DM me on the Dagger Discord and I'll help you

Right. But you need tooling to manage those dependencies, and an ecosystem of content to avoid reinventing the wheel. That's what containers provide. Since Bazel predates the modern container ecosystem, it had to invent its own tooling

Note, you can store otel data in clickhouse and augment the schema as needed, and get the best of both worlds. That's what we do and it works great.

You can't get around packaging it as a desktop app - that's how you get the seamless "drag into Applications folder, double-click" install experience. I agree you don't necessarily need a full-blown desktop GUI. T

Hi, I'm the founder of Docker. The decision to launch Docker Desktop, and deprecate Docker Machine, had nothing to do with revenue. Desktop was free when we launched it in 2016, and it remained free until 2021. By then Docker had a new
