Mousemade is in contrast to handmade. We're like Etsy, but of digital content.

For those who don't know what we are, CreativeMarket is an online marketplace for digital design assets. Think Etsy, but instead of vintage skirts and hand-sewn bags we have fonts and icons. (disclosure: I'm a developer here)

While what you describe is certainly the ideal, and likely applicable in a variety of situations, there are a lot of real world situations where it can't cut it. Antirez says it best: remember all those stories about DB denormalisation

I'm loving all the various changes, but one thing I miss is the line in the footer that used to proudly proclaim the version/build of the various pieces of software (e.g., Django, piston, some oauth thing) that bitbucket runs on. Don't see

That's interesting, because every android device I've encountered (4-5 different models) have used YAFFS, which is also a NAND-friendly filesystem. Anybody know what the difference is?

Also, if you work in San Fran, you can take your high wage and go spend it on a cheaper house out outside the city. You've got BART and caltrain and lots of roads to take you to work. Here in Hawaii there's no such escape.

I wonder if this is coming because they can't keep up with the write load. The writes that come from these third party apps (that enable messaging multiple people, or queuing/delaying tweets) might throw a wrench in their system if it does

My take is that your age should not the biggest thing you should be worried about. If all you have are coding classes on your belt, and no actual projects in the wild (stuff you did outside of class, apps you built that are on the market,

Yes, running Django in pypy gives you enormous speed boosts (I've seen it myself), but that's not what I was talking about. I was referring to the benchmarks in which they measured Python code in pypy running against pure C code (see some e

I disagree. Have you seen the benchmarks where they showed Python code in pypy running faster than C equivalents? Sure they were contrived, but they support the idea that theoretically any JIT runtime should be faster than ahead-of-time c

Identi.ca isn't exactly a committee effort though. The vast majority of development comes from Status.net, which makes money (apparently) by selling/setting up private instances for enterprise usage.

Probably not. Identi.ca has had a twitter compatible api since as far as I remember (and I was an early user there), and while a fair number of twitter clients made the small tweak to enable support for identi.ca, a larger number of twitte

If it wasn't clear by the comments on the bug report or by the quoted sections of this comment's parent, let me rephrase it. This issue is entirely caused by the fact that PHP is case insensitive for classes and function names (but not var

Be careful not to think of megapixel count as the end-all of photo quality. While it is very important, the quality of the image sensor makes the biggest difference. You can buy some 16MP point and shoot, but the image quality isn't going

Perhaps you were late to the Winamp game? According to the wiki, fb2k came out 5 years after winamp (and was done by a former nullsoft contractor). When winamp was in its prime there really wasn't anything else to compete with it.

I don't think MediaWiki or Wordpress are good examples of how PHP scales. Those are the two examples of extremely bloated pieces of software that require a lot of hackage to get to scale. I've done deployments of those on mid sized VPS'es

A good thing to keep in mind is the behavior at the extremities. If you look at negative numbers (Math.floor(-1.1) == -2, whereas parseInt("-1.1", 10) == -1, and -1.1 << 0 == -1) and numbers greater than 2^32 (Math.floor and parseI
