Message Protocol X: supports chat, runs on iOS Message Protocol Y: supports chat, runs on iOS, Android, Blackberry. I absolutely love iMessage, but I hate that I can't use it with anyone who owns android.

Or the opposite. Do you retain more people through fear and lock in, or do you gain more by being open and transparent?

I'm extremely happy with it. It's the best internet-connected pocket computer I've owned since my iPhone 3GS. It fits in my front jeans pocket (much to surprise of many people; just barely, but it does), and I can sit comfort

I use an iPad mini as my iPhone replacement because I wanted a bigger screen while staying with iOS and Apple hardware.

Happiness/Likeness = Expectation - Reality. Those who thought it was great probably did not have high expectations. The movie beat them. You already saw websites saying how great it was, so your expectations were much harder to beat.

To be fair, developing for an iPhone is a lot closer to developing for the 3DS, because there tends to be one per year. Android devices vary, even if not by much, it's not the same. Especially when it comes to demanding games. So while

Probably because the iPhone lacks tactile input buttons/joysticks. Isn't iOS 7 supposed to add some sort of support for bluetooth gamepads? Will that help out?

I just tried your instant webcam app, and omg it is so cool. I've been looking for something like that. Very impressive low latency. It's free too, how are you making money? Thanks for making it! (Now I just need something for str

What can I say, it's a good point. 500px does this nicely by giving you an anon user account on your first visit, and you can use the site in full that way. If you prefer to "sign up" and keep your stuff, it can be done.

I think it's more accurate to say the iPod (which one?) was not superior in all aspects of an MP3 player (especially in price). But IMO it had a very healthy balance of well done properties and good design. It was a device easy to love

It may feel liberating to eliminate things you do not actively use often. Reduce your cognitive load, less stuff to maintain (as little effort as it may be, it's non-zero).

Neat site! // declare foo as pointer to function (void) returning pointer to array 3 of int int (*(*foo)(void ))[3] That's actually a great example to throw at Go's syntax, which if you read from left-to-rig

I miss this. I used to have a Palm device. It had a black and white 320x320 screen, slow CPU, low memory, and no Wi-Fi. But I could run PocketC on it and work on a hobby game project, either on a computer or the device itself. A few years l

Since you can't predict how often a user sees something (it could be someone else using your phone), it's better just to avoid blocking animations altogether. Let the animations be non-blocking. If you wanna go slow, things are un

Agree with the problem, disagree with the solution. Cut the animation times in half, and you're wasting only half the time. It will be too fast for some people, too slow for others. Instead, avoid _blocking_ animations. Some animations

It doesn't have to be percentage, just seeing "x many bytes downloaded (out of unknown maximum)" increase is seeing progress. Seeing a spinner spin around may mean x is going up, or x is exactly where it was 30 seconds ago, b
