Is there some reason I'm not understanding why McDonald's can't or won't just change vendors? Why is there no competition in the commercial-grade ice cream machine market?

I would also add that the proposed solution here to the supposed "rot in Wikipedia" amounts essentially to "What if websites? and ... links?".

Wikipedia is genuinely a wonder of the world. Trying to extend, mirror, or bolster it is potentially beneficial. Trying to replace it is foolish.

It seems like it shouldn't be too hard for Google to create an AI filter that recognizes spam. They obviously have the training data. Even if they needed to manually label a bunch of it. The problem must be that they make too much mone

It turns out that with "electronic cash", the same as with physical cash, you do actually still need the banking system. Wow! Who could have ever guessed?

I don't know what dirt trails and slow speeds have to do with trains and trolleys but I agree with you that we could drastically reduce motor vehicle accidents by re-building our systems of public transportation and walkable neighborho

Whether or not it is literally hand written is not important. The thing that matters is that it is unstructured.

If only there were some kind of system or network of long-standing institutions with a deep commitment to paper-trails and accountability that was overseen by some kind of community-managed regulation to control this type of thing.

Not "Homes" (As in, properties in which you reside ). Those could be taxed at the normal rate. I'm talking about anyone (including individual corporations) owning more than one property in which they do reside.

Ok, but you don't own the actual thing. If I buy a copy of Star Wars on DVD I obviously don't own the movie itself . I only own a copy and the right to use that copy in certain ways; typically personal & fair use. Historica

"Workloads" seem to be effectively equivalent to integration tests. I don't mean to poke holes but I'm having trouble seeing the value add here. If I have to deploy to some new environment anyways and I have to tailor th
