This is called PAHS, passive annual heat storage and has been tried in some alternative energy housing. You put pvc pipes into a hill of dirt that is covered by a plastic sheet or other waterproof membrane; during hot summer months you use

I’m reminded that Chrysler took a big loan from the US government in 1979, $1.5 billion which today is equivalent to about $5.9 billion USD according to the inflation calculator I found.

It seems clear that "buy a lot of Nvidia GPUs" is not the only way to go: Google, Microsoft, Groq.com (not Elon Musk's Grok), xAI and possibly others are making and using their own hardware believed to be more power-efficient

I really like (and have used in production) the ability to run Solaris Zones (containers) and "LX zones" which are Linux containers side by side on the same hardware. Many installation problems show up in the handling of USB3 and

I view Intel as a company that has a huge number of missed opportunities: 1. They have excellent engineering resources - why didn't they just take their ARC cards and add more RAM to them? People are dropping $2K+ on the 5090 with 32

All bureaucrats do this sort of thing: shut down something innocent to serve as a rallying cry. UCLA has $8 billion in endowments and the state universities in total have $30 billion in endowment funds. How many years could they fund Tao an
