If you're in the US and near a major metro, keep an eye on bidspotter. Every once in a while you can catch a lot of high end test gear and/or accessories at lower prices than ebay.

Walmart is a bad comparison there; they have an enormous headcount of low-paid staff. Many tech companies are far lower headcount, but with high executive pay. Looking at some other companies, Activision-Blizzard's CEO alone makes enou

Here’s an example of parsing some particularly annoying old school html. I’m not claiming it’s the _best_ way to do it, just that you can, and I’m not sure this one is doable with selectors. https://github.com/openstates

CSS is nice because it's more readable than XPATH for longer queries, and is friendlier to newer programmers who didn't come up when XML was big. XPATH is generally more powerful for really gnarly things and for backtracking. &quo

Having a 9 month old I feel this in my bones. Our bottle wash - dry - sterilize - fill pipeline alone has gone from piles of chaos to a finally tuned machine. It’s like a more gratifying factorio, although the biters get larger faster. =)

I don't just pay DO for servers, I'm paying them for a cohesive integrated UX, decent support (for the price), and nice hosted database and load balancer options. That's always been what separates DO from the rest of the mark

How does this compare to Les' RPI photospectrometer? https://www.hackster.io/news/les-wright-s-diy-raspberry-pi-s... Does it just have a much larger spectrum?

I think this price increase is honestly pretty fair, but I really wish they'd show side by side prices, and offer me a tool to see what my total increase will be.

We have enough clean water, (potential) power, food, and space to keep many times the earth's current population healthy and happy. The issue is that those things are not distributed in the same amounts and places as people. While unim

I’m absolutely joking about the death penalty. I’m not at all joking about the auto ticket. If we won’t enforce it why make it illegal? And with a nuisance violation, what’s the difference between sticking a cop there and a camera? I’m not

With the exception (arguably) of the vette, those are uncommon high end sportscars. Much like with the speed limit, the owners are expected to be a little more cognizant of law abiding.

I hope this tech catches on, we have a ton people who like to tear around my neighborhood at 4AM in cars with exhaust mods. A few times it’s been loud enough to wake up my infant, at which point I’d probably vote to upgrade it a capital cri

I’m really torn on Integza. It’s a great channel and I love his spirit, but guys like that (and the teenagers that follow them) end up getting hurt or burning down their houses, which makes the news and gets new restrictions passed on all o

If you're interested in starting electronics, I recommend getting one of the elegoo ardiuno kits off of amazon. They're a surprisingly good hands on way to learn a bunch of basic theory and how to use common parts and sensors.

I scrape the data that public officials post (thought not on instagram yet) -- that has lots of utility in determining their positions on issues, where in their jurisdiction they visit most, who they're meeting with, etc.
