I played Zak Mackraken on my C64 for 18 hours in a row until it crashed and I could not restore my save... I started over. I was 10 back then. Both my parents were in academia and wouldn't just let me play all the time, but at some poi

Yes. Many of these graphs reminded me of stuff I was producing as a strategy consultant. In some cases you wonder if organizations that have too much money spend it purely on philosophical questions, unrelated to any business reality.

There is an entire ISO norm dealing with this btw. ISO 27k family to be precise.

Well, I can relate to that. Most of 2020 we were focused on fighting the aftermath of the crisis. Now that things slowly are getting back to normal, at least in some Western countries, our focus shifts to the origins. I was also very skepti

I agree 100%. The list could be continued indefinitely. Less positively formulated, you could also say people outside an industry are naïve enough to start something people inside would deem impossible.

Wow. I wasn't aware that Steve Jobs wrote essays. Are there more? I think this part is interesting, because it's still true: > Our motivation is simple – we want to provide the most advanced and innovative platform to our deve

What's so interesting: Outside of HN a lot of people I speak to are super-pumped about W3W. On HN the general sentiment is quite negative. I can't reconcile it yet.

I might get downvoted for that, I still gonna say it: That might be due to the demand-supply situation in photography. They probably will find photographers doing this for the promotion effect described in the email.

Thanks, that is helpful. I wonder if it can be defined through System 1 and 2 activities. So doing a System 1 task + System 2 task simultaneously would be ok, but not doing System 1 task + another System 1 task.

Sure sitting alone is not, but what about listening and taking notes?

I have some practical question: - Is sitting in a meeting, listening and taking notes multi-tasking? - Is listening to a podcast while jogging multi-tasking? - Cooking and talking to friends on the phone?

Don’t you think it’s unrealistic that all effort is put on #1 topics? What if people genuinely care about problem #3 and #12? I don’t think it’s a wasted effort. Or maybe I’m misreading your comment?

Sorry, I’m not sure if I follow. Consumers are not rational, ok fair. But should we then listen to their demands to have things their way? Like devices, which can be repaired? Seems like a rational want? I don’t get it

But that’s my point. Why do buy a phone from company like that? Just stop buying from them and buy from another manufacturer instead and the problem will be solved.

I don’t know why we shouldn’t let the market handle this. If people want everything to be repairable then why isn’t there a phone which solve that issue? Maybe people don’t care that much after all.

If I remember correctly, Prof. Drosten speculated about a heavy cold and flu season coming winter because we basically skipped one season. Remains to be seen I guess, but this prognosis resonated with me.
