This is definitely a thing, but I hope KDE specifically on average has a rep of being easy to get into and owning our mistakes. At least this is really the culture we try to cultivate broadly. For example, we also have some devs who proac

Honestly, I'm surprised you get told off a lot. My own subjective experience is the polar opposite :-) As a Linux desktop dev, getting hung out to dry over this in HN threads is my usual experience, and it's pretty frustrating and

There's a community effort underway to develop a next-generation appearance based on a design system (and a new theme engine) that also includes a properly designed set of font weights. I agree this will be a big improvement. I love ty

It looks like most of the margin differences you complain about are due to icons not filling out their square canvas/bounding box depending on the depicted object. This is generally how icons work, unless you go Android and slap a circ

Your comment is essentially just an ad hominem that doesn't react to the content of the OP, or enumerate any of its claims. You are claiming to know better, but not substantiating anyhing. It's FUD, and the worst kind of comment,

It's called window activation in the standard protocol the blog is about, so it's technically correct terminology.

My psychological reaction to what's going on is somehow pretty different. I'm a systems/embedded/GUI dev with 25 years of C++ etc., and nearly every day I'm happy and grateful to be the last generation to get really

It's all more or less the same between Plasma/Gnome/XFCE. On X11 all window managers had to employ roughly similar heuristics-based tactics. That does however mean there might be behavior differences based on the specific WM&

It also helps that working on a browser engine is "easy" in the sense that you are developing to a known target and there are increasingly decent test suites available. It helps a lot with keeping motivation alive since there'

Something similar to this is my personal stance against the death penalty, where I think in the grand scheme of uncertainty, we should err on the side of caution by drawing the line before taking lives in an institutionalized fashion.

I don't think these are comparable. The accusations in this case are about systematically sleazy behavior and hint at not-so-consensual sex, which isn't exactly the same as "this guy bothered my kid somehow for a minute"
