Oh, I don't think I'm wrong. And neither do you, since your second sentence basically agrees with me. Hit a nerve? And yeah, most of the ML industry is in precisely the same category. A bunch of frauds.

You misunderstand. "Infosec" is a shopping list item on govt requirements. "We need this, this, this, and it needs to be secure!" They assume security is just this additional ingredient that can be purchased, mixed in, a

The entire "infosec industry" is fraudulent, in my estimation. A bunch of assholes selling powerpoints and not a whole lot else. I've seen it a lot. None of them know what they're talking about. Source: my direct experie

Don't trust obviously incentivized players like Sophos, karma-chasing security wannabes, or anyone else in this category around this kind of topic. German media is very good. Spiegel is an excellent paper. Trust your instincts, look f

Your first three examples are speculative edge cases, to say the least. But your last is interesting - and touches on something I was going to type but didn't. Yeah, evolution might be happening there, and not in a good way. There'

Ah, fair enough, I didn't think of that. It's still a moot point however. There is no meaningful human evolution anymore in terms of adaptation to anything in nature. Human biological fitness these days, outside hunter gather soci

So your solution is just that the whole population must die younger than necessary, then? Is that really the best we can do? I don't know, maybe we could put a hard limit on academic positions of 50 years or so. We could figure somethi

That is absolutely not how evolution works at all. Mutation, such as it is, occurs at the moment of conception. It's not a very helpful word - "random and imperfect mix of two data sets" is a better way of thinking about it.

I find an interesting parallel with the current discussion around American business being unduly influenced by China's massive buying power, where even though it's perfectly legal, businesses are so scared of being locked out of C

I know it wasn't a good analogy; I couldn't think of a better one. Puerto Rico is not a better analogy. It's never been America proper and it's not even connected to the mainland. HK was China, it was occupied by force f

I didn't really want to bash on the US too hard but yeah. America has over five hundred overseas military bases. To say no other country even comes close is an understatement. I'm not even saying the US overseas forces are bad.
