Not sure why downvotes - very valid point for China.

Sure, it's still completely impure in another sense, as in for the benefit of the language and its users.

Nice! It would be cool for Wine Wayland driver to also fix window resizing (regedit currently is blinking all over when being resized).

Not just telecom, they are just super aggressive in general as a bully with weapons pile. I remember they tried to threaten Opus codec with patents just becasue, when IETF proposed it for Internet standard. Luckily that failed, but it shows

They don't seem to care. I'm sure that will bite them in the long term, but for now they are very intent on complete NIH and lock-in anywhere they can push it.

Nothing stops them from providing their own API and Vulkan both. So your arguments only make sense for why they might want other API but they don't make sense on the part reasons for completely denying Vulkan support alongside it. Ther

That might be an excuse, but that's hardly a reason. They are simply extreme lock-in proponents and don't want to support cross platform graphics API. That's the real reason.

You don't need Apple for that.

I don't get the point of the dummy value. How does it help doing anything? I can add conditions with ease without it.

That's the problem on the other end. But micromanaging on this end is also very annoying.

So it should be D3D → Vulkan → kernel / hardware. But Apple are too stuck up with their NIH to allow that.

Gamers don't need to worry about "how games are supported" as along as they work. You can run many old games in Wine even though original developers stopped supporting them decades ago. Putting hurdles in the way of that is t

I see nothing silly about it. Bringing other bad examples of lock-ins doesn't excuse Apple in the least. Personally I'd stay away from the above too. > There's also only a handful of Vulkan games There are a ton of games

Unlike Linux, Windows and etc. I don't think even GPU makers can provide their own implementation of Vulkan there - only Apple can do that. And they refuse. So it can be considered a deliberate blocking.

Point is that Apple is deliberately blocking Vulkan support. Which prevents things like Wine / Proton from offering decent performance for games there (MoltenVK is not really adequate for that). Being it's Apple, not some kind of

If Apple cared about gamers, they wouldn't have blocked proper Vulkan support. They simply don't care. A major reason to stay away from Apple if you are a gamer.

Over time the work was obviously done for Mantle → Gl Next → Vulkan. And that's becasue AMD were positive about this idea. Their initial presentation of Mantle was in that vein, i.e. to kickstart the progress of the common API. MS just

AMD indicated from the beginning they wanted it to become the universal API. Opening stuff up formally also takes time. So it all was going towards Vulkan in one form or another and no one was forcing MS to push DX12 NIH while this was happ

DX12 was pushed as NIH, since it was made from Mantle same way as Vulkan was. So to reduce NIH, it only makes sense to unify it all in Vulkan. They already made the first sensible step with SPIR-V here. The next step makes the same sense.

In this case Vulkan is the only option. DX12 is a non starter since it was never intended to be universally available.

It would be misleading if A doesn't know that the real target is C. Otherwise you can use jump functionality From A: ssh -J B C If B doesn't need to be part of the path, just connect to C directly if it's doable. If
