So basically, "we didn't forbid anything that's already not illegal". Rather fake excuse.

If anything, high refresh rate displays are trying to reduce motion blur. Artificially adding it back sounds weird and counter intuitive.

Many games have it, but I always turn it off. I guess some like its cinematic effect, but I prefer less motion blur, not more.

Do you really need to break the abstraction? Current scenario where SPIR-V is let's say compiled by Mesa into NIR and then NIR is compiled into GPU specific machine code works pretty well, where optimizations can happen on different ph

This isn't about GPU APIs as far as I understand, but about having a high quality language for GPU programs. Think Rust replacing GLSL. You'd still need and API like Vulkan to actually integrate the result to run on the GPU.

Yeah, Nvidia can get lost with their CUDA moat. But AMD should be interested.

Do you get any interest from big players like AMD? I'm surprised that they didn't start such initiative, but I guess they can as well back yours.

Looks promising. Rust for GPU programs running using Vulkan should replace the likes of CUDA.

It's not just about resolutions, but about refresh rates more importantly. For analog monitors it made sense that autodetection was bad. Digital ones should be reasonably well served by EDIDs that you'd never need to make your mod

Creating custom modelines is far from fun activity, bloat or no bloat. The last time I had to look into that was to work around amdgpu bug that affected screen blinking in KDE Wayland session.

Feels like a hype distro to me since they package WIP / unreleased features as if they are released left and right. It's not even using upstream kernel. Many newcomers especially don't realize this and when they hit problems

I still find it a very questionable idea to run some GUI stuff on IoT device streaming the GUI to you. I just don't get why you would want to do that, vs let's say having an HTTP access. I have an HTTP server running on my printer

Syntax could be less terse and abbreviated, I agree. But it's not unreadable. On the other hand some complain that Rust sometimes is too verbose, so I guess it's some balance.
