Synergy was originally fully open source, it came out of an open source project, what they actually did was close the frontend for 2.0.

Awesome - I wasn't aware of that, but after reading that post I'm greatly reassured. It sounds like they're doing the right things first, glad they've straightened out the priorities. I really hope it can become a great

Synergy used to be great, the original developers really knew what they were doing, but since then it's been taken over by a commercial developer that seems to have no interest in making a good product and far more interest in charging

Orders of magnitude easier than C++? Please. C++ at least done Qt style really isn't that bad, it took me a few hours to get up and running with a reasonable Qt setup at work and start a project, when I had to do the same for electron

Try writing something as simple as a dialog in Qt. It all makes sense, you subclass a QDialog, instantiate it and show it. Try doing that in pure HTML/CSS/JS, you're basically left with a clusterfuck. There's piles and p

Seriously though, I dream of a world in which all apps had a "subscribe on your news reader" button which could open an RSS client, maybe something implemented by mobile OS providers so it's easy for new users but overridable

I think a big chunk of the problem now is that when people want to watch regularly released video content from internet creators they reach to YouTube, there's no integration of subscriptions across sites. You'd basically have to

The whole model for modern mobile OSes is based on running apps in containers, so they're one in the same essentially. Windows lacks such containerization for most desktop apps, they're trying to improve that model now with UWP bu

I agree deeply, but I honestly think that approach of Android is the best here. Sandboxed to an app store by default, possible to enable 3rd party installations by jumping through a few hoops and big warning boxes, much more difficult to ga

To be fair, they're security features that were guaranteed to be bypassable given that they weren't implemented in hardware, nothing really surprising here. Commercial game cheat developers have been bypassing patchguard since it

Yes, it'd probably be better to look at their Grafana stats on web requests to see if people are staying around. To me it looks to be up a decent bit, but less than you'd expect from a proper mass exodus event.

I figured I'd get used to it eventually, so I didn't want to just up and change what seemed like it should have been a good default, what you're suggesting would mean basically turning off a hardware "feature". In t

I hate that I try to stream a game for my friends and they don't see what I did til 10-15s later. I'm trying to have discussions with them in real time on our voice chat server and any input they give me is inherently dated. Mumbl

Freenet/Zeronet have updatable sites already, should be trivial to do with git commits, grab the latest signed update based on this name and key hash... Overall though I think a federated system that also handles issues is better, some
