We play this with our kids on car rides with some regularity. We usually limit scope to some book series- LOTR, Harry Potter, Star Wars, etc. Kids get really annoyed when I pick something super obscure like “a hair on Gandalf’s beard”. So

Early in my .NET career Framework Design Guidelines made a big impression and improved my code quality. I liked the prescriptive "Do/Don't/Consider + ELI5" style of the rules and to this day use that approach in so

The main thing I’ve done is take RTMP/RTSP from network cameras (im doing this for traffic cameras) and push to HLS. This is very powerful as you can take a camera that otherwise would require a special viewer and play in any modern b

Interesting post that reminded me of my Compuserve/Delphi days. I’m pretty passionate about my garden. I’m out there every day picking off caterpillars and frequently googling how to get more yield from a few beds. I have learned the

One thing I wish ffmpeg tools - including this one- would do better is account for live inputs and outputs. I’ve come up with the incantations to do live rtsp to hls, webcam to hls and more, but it’s always something I have to relearn.

I’m dealing with this now. Company got hacked and so now are over the top locking down everything to the point it’s unusable. I told them the other day that the most secure thing they could do is just turn it all off.

Came here to point this out. For non-trivial implementations of showHtmlPage, this is a vulnerability. A malicious user could set up a 403 response with a fake “please re-enter your card to verify” form that sends to the attacker, or poss

If you want to converse with me, first define your terms - Voltaire I was taught that Gilgamesh wasn’t the first written work of literature, but the first written work of epic story. I don’t know if this is true, but many of the other works

Looks interesting but a few questions I don’t see answered in the docs: How do permissions work? Ie if I had a notes app, and wanted users to only be able to upset and query _their_ notes, how do I make that happen? Why no LAN for web brow

We have a similar albeit plastic microscope for our kids. The issue I have with it on newer iPhone is that the phone keeps wanting to switch lenses. So you clip it on one of the lenses, but iOS will switch between that lens and the others

To be fair, this is a big part of the problem- I’m doing this on a m1 mac, PLUS am new to python. Fortunately there are some good guides. Still, this is a solvable problem in other package managers.

I’ve been tinkering with stable diffusion lately and this has been a rude introduction to python. Coming from .net (nuget) and JavaScript (npm), it’s baffling that there isn’t an established solution for python. It looks to me like people

This seems like an area for AI research. These are the points where a general AI will have a hard time, because language parsing is not enough. It has to “know” the context -of say MIT’s Green Building vs green building- and be able to de
