I have yet to see any of my friends and definitely not politicians (of any stripe) humbled about anything pandemic. If anything there’s a doubling down and mental gymnastics to explain away inconsistencies or hide lack of knowledge. I’d l

I agree and have been feeling this more lately. You know this is already being politicized. Armchair investigators are suddenly becoming power grid experts. The complex reality of balancing a huge diverse power grid is becoming an “easy”

I'm assuming justification for GoF research wasn't "we want to make a bioweapon". What are the arguments in favor of this type of research?

Thanks - I do think that's coherent and not combative at all, and appreciate hearing a similar, but different experience. I think the crux of where I would disagree is on how hard it is to start a business and/or invest. Growing

I'm definitely not 1%, and sympathize with/understand somewhat some of these claims. Bail-outs and unchecked government spending or borrowing from future generations worry me. However I'm also pretty aggressive at investing.

Most of these type things (quantopian is one I've tried) offer "paper trading" that is just that. You simulate it on "paper" until you gain confidence and use it to invest. I think the docs for this says they do a

Not to get too political, but now do masks/HCQ/covid. It's just tricky. In the end, many "scientists"- and _especially_ science reporters are too confident, and many "armchair scientists" are as well. W

Obviously a variety of thought within "Christians", but I think the main view would be that Zoroastrianism has elements of truth (monotheism, dualism, for example), but not the "fullness of Truth". So, possibly one coul

Many Christians I know are aware of and even study these myths and other religions, and there is evidence of early Christians doing so as well. In general, I understand their view on them is that God works through those myths and in some c

I agree. I think there's a real market for an _extremely_ boring news site. 4-5 paragraph articles, sentiment analysis to be "neutral", some way to link to context and history on topics, and links to source documents. Same

Thank you for a very reasoned reply. I guess my fear for my karma was unfounded. ;) Two follow up questions: How do you objectively determine Parler is dedicated to extremism but Signal is not? I think Parler would argue (even if incorrec

Thanks will check it out. By shady I meant the sites filled with ads that you go to to download mods, and the mod installers that I worry about what else they might be installing on my machine. Am I doing it wrong?
