C++ is awesome, no doubt about it. However it's a superset of C and the entry cost is much, much higher. Learning C is good for your culture, learning C++ is useful only if you plan on using it.

Then you cannot claim you're ACID, since the D stands for durable. Something is wrong with your marketing.

I don't understand the remark about the history. You can merge and "squash" your history into a single commit. I don't understand what rebase brings.

The problem with privacy and security is that it's considered a "nice to have" but not a "must have". It's extremely difficult to sell "nice to have".

Curved mirrors dont eliminate the blind spot, they reduce it. Perhaps this curved mirror reduce the blind spot to a very small area, but I submit a bicycle or pedestrian could still fit in it.

I wonder if there is a modern shell with csh like syntax. I know this may sound anal retentive, but I prefer the csh syntax to the sh syntax.

Some of them. For example Boost.Spirit.Karma is an order of magnitude faster than sprintf (I don't know compared to fbformat), with the drawback of a very long compile time (see here: http://tinodidriksen.com/2010/02/07/cpp-convert-int-to-

That's all good and well, but I'm not sure I understand what it brings compared to std::vector with a good allocator. In addition, it does not support concurrent growth.

It's a bit OOT, but, allow me to retort. I'm not a big fan of intermittent fasting or any 'program' for that matter. What I'd like to say, from personal experience, is that nothing beats a balanced diet and regular exercise. No program, no

These lists always miss the point. For example, the list is most likely right about sleep. However, if you're not sleeping enough you'll most likely say "It's ok man, it's under control". Only when experiencing personally the damages of sle

You probably heard of 7Zip and LZMA. xz uses the LZMA2 algorithm to achieve better compression ratios.

To me the problem with Clippy is that he never gave useful help and annoyed me when I didn't ask for anything. Imagine, you're at your desk. Someone comes up: "Hey I see you're at your desk, do you need help with sitting on your chair?". Do

All of these cities you list are actually stifled by pollution and are (very) far from being clean. I happen to live in one of those and visit regularly others in the list. The problem is far from being solved. However, it's true that the p

No silver bullet, however with high density it's possible to find solutions for traffic and sewage more easily. For water, the problem is the same.

Bill Gates has got a lot of technology insight and vision. What's Mark's vision? Connecting people in a world where people are already connected? Bill's vision was: a computer on every desk. When he was saying this, this was very bold.

Oracle and DB2 are at the top because no other solution is mature, it does not mean the ACID transaction approach is the best. Can they make ACID transactions scale? They make bold claims and I'm afraid it will be hard to live up to it. Is

I don't like this post and what it implies. If tomorrow you want to learn to cook, how would you feel if a master chef told you "No, don't. You'll never be as good as me. If you're hungry, come to my restaurant instead". I think there's not
