this might be controversial, but i just want to write semantic html and be able to toggle the design. if the design requires additional elements or JS, then it’s way too complex for a solo dev (for me anyway). i think classless css framewor

whenever i hear or read a google SRE resource, i’m most impressed by their back of the napkin calculations. it’s a skill i wish i had but don’t have opportunities to do it or even validate that i’m in the right ball park

The generated art is impressive, but there is no drawing that'll replace the one my daughter draws for me. AI generated art can reach and perhaps push the boundaries of what is considered beautiful, but it will never replace the art cr

I don't have experience, but would like to experiment with this as well mostly because of rails 7's turbo broadcasts can use SSE instead of websockets. From my research so far, as a frugal dev, I'm trying to figure out how di

as someone who gets paid in only cash, i was jealous of everyone who worked for stocks during the bull run. i actually think, now might be a good time to join a company after prices dropped.

Your response got me to really look at fly... i have to try it now. After reading the free postgres and last mile redis blog post, i realized something... I can use probably the most under-used cache stores rails provides: the file_store, w

Can anyone speak to using a rails app to reach global users using fastly's surrogate tags or cloudflare's cache tags (Enterprise only)? After reading the OP, the tradeoffs seems more complex than a single origin in us-east and hav

ESI, at least on fastly, are run in serialized fashion. On cloudflare workers, you can have up to 6 concurrent connections to try to do ESI as fast as the slowest request.

wow in that case, this is huge for me… i’m currently architecting a rails app to have global users. turbo with http seems perfect to save bandwidth and fine tuned caching configurations… i might have to look at how/when the response is

I think there's too much focus on the 4 in 4-day work week. I think why a 4-day work week is more appealing is because we'd have more time (3 days) doing what we love to do instead; We want to do things that bring us joy or give u
