This article focuses on the high city rents forcing low-income earners to the suburbs - not sure how this fits in with your comment?

Its a good question, but the swap advice is suspicious. If I would normally purchase a 4GB of ram instance with 4GB swap, then what happens when I purchase a 8GB instance? Do I still need 4GB swap? Hopefully this helps illustrate that it

I consider it modern, especially the great changes brought forth in 9.x and 10.x. Multi-node databases, big data partitioning, replication are all areas which are still evolving for all sorts of data stores. Postgres certainly has been ar

I have switched between many programming languages, and if you are considering Clojure I would highly recommend it. It is immutable first, which helps eliminate many classes of explicit bugs and non-obvious anti-patterns. It also works ac

I have been running a 1800X on Arch Linux which has been rock solid, using 32GB of ECC memory and very compile heavy workloads. Might be a bad board?

I have been very pleased with Ardour - only took me a few minutes to have my XLR mic go through a compressor / limiter / expander virtual rack effects setup for better screencasting.

Rephrased: 'I prefer the 1.8 style and I hire people based on that'. For interviewing, the 1.4 style is totally valid, works in more environments and achieves the same result. I don't red flag folks who answer questions base

This sounds like jumping to conclusions: 1. Simple iterators vs Syntactic sugar both pass the same unit tests 2. The 'Java 1.4' style closely matches idiomatic golang code, which has high adoption and maintainability 3. Pe

In my experience this post is right on - there are so many bugs in so many layers (especially where they intersect), that the logical conclusion is to reduce and simplify. These ideas are also emerging in the form of Go (simple) / Cloj

I think this is a touch dramatic - the Linux desktop is free, open and there are really great projects out there which don't recommend the command line (see elementary: https://elementary.io/ ) Is it as refined as MacOS

I can confirm that it is indeed quantitatively slower. The reason is due to the higher resolution; you have to render and scale pictures, which simply didn't take as long on the 1440x900 of the air. He isn't wrong, you are just l
