   Check the amount of traffic you've got: number of packets, number of connections. If it's under attack you might have LOTS of packets (for example SYN) coming your way which explains the slow performance.

   The server has to be installed using command-line, obviously. I've mentioned about GUI clients in my post. It's worth to stress out that unofficial clients are strongly discouraged. Check the client setup section for more details:
